hopscotch (4379), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle... Dark, clear ruby lager with a mid-sized, wispy, off-white head. Lengthy, tight, white retention. The nose is a touch nutty and chocolaty-sweet... very restrained until the beer’s temperature hits 75°. Full-bodied and creamy with vivacious carbonation. Malty-sweet, as a bock should be, but not cloyingly so. Plenty of spicy, earthy bitterness to balance things out. Chocolate and a touch of coffee. Crisp, lightly bittersweet (more bitter than sweet) finish. I guess I’ll have to go against the grain on this one... I enjoyed it. Bottle provided by scubarex! troyc (937), A ’moist’ county, Texas, USA Jul 10, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a dark golden color, with a light colored head. Taste includes light malty notes and some caramel and biscuit as well. Overall, the flavor/palate of this beer isn’t very good at all... and it is a disappointment. Hance07 (169), DownSouth, Georgia, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours copper with a fluffy white head. Malty sweetness is what this one is all about. Little if any hops that I could notice. Pretty good easy drinking beer. lightning9191 (46), Christiansburg, Virginia, USA Jul 3, 2008 This beer pours a coppery hue with not even a finger of head. It smells of malty, caramel goodness with some hints of hops. The taste is lightly malty balanced with hops. This is not too big on flavor. I would prefer more maltiness. The body is light-medium with high carbonation. I find it over-carbonated as well. This beer isn’t horrible, but it lacks in the flavor department and would benefit from a lower carbonation level.
