Telegraph California Ale is our flagship beer and is our interpretation of the unique ales that were commonly brewed up and down the West Coast in the 19th century. It is an unfiltered, medium-bodied beer, with a rich amber color and a rocky, white head. The beer is crafted using domestic American ingredients and fermented with a unique yeast strain that accentuates the hoppy spiciness, while also imparting fruity and subtly sour flavors. The aromas are spicy and earthy, reminiscent of the rich agricultural valleys surrounding Santa Barbara.

Draft at chucks 85th. Pours a cloudy burnished dark amber with a loose white head. Big sweet red apple, caramel, and light cinnamon on the nose, but none of it is cloying. Smells like esters and malt sugar, not a caramel apple. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Caramel, light spice, and soft fruity sweetness on the mid palate. Quite enjiyable. Soft finish.

Itís a mouth-filling beer, unfiltered, fairly hoppy and rather malty with a subtle citrus note. Perhaps because itís sealed with a cork, a la Champagne, some people seem to think of it as a French saison, but Iíd call it just a great big amber ale. Coppery in color with a huge white head, itís a little earthy on the palate with some sweetness showing up late. It would be great with grilled meat or particularly fish.

Shared bottle at craft ale house. Pours hazy orange with a small white head that dissipates quickly. The aroma has a mango, pineapple, is incredible sweet, reminds me of marmalade. The taste is big, sweet orange, pineapple, mango, crazy fruity. Too sweet but this guy has a lot of flavor.

In long: Nose is very toasted STOP a sensation of smelling something rusty in a wood shop STOP good presence of leafy hops STOP Taste is very very toasted STOP dry hay STOP dehydrated cereals STOP orange flesh STOP a whole lot of yeast STOP a bit of caramel STOP a rust sensation STOP High attenuation STOP Fun foamy-fluffy and very lively mouthfeel STOP Sessionnable beer that stands out from the crowd STOP Iíve read what a California Common beer is but flavorwise I still donít understand the style STOP
