COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This intensely sour "wild ale" recalls the earliest rustic beers crafted centuries ago before brewers had an understanding of controlled fermentation. Brewed with the addition of lemon verbena, as well as lactobacillus and brettanomyces. Telegraph Reserve Wheat is an all-together different beast from modern beer. Not for the faint of heart, this special brew is available in extremely limited quantities.

Pale yellow color with a thin white head. Smells funky, lemony, fruity, some barnyard funk and sugar. Light sour and kind of sweet with lemon zest. Very thin palate, bitter, with a dry sour finish.

From bottle at HOTB. Medium wheaty nose with a bit of sour character. Cloudy pale with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Mild sour Brett notes but overall a bit watery. A decent level of sourness but not assertive. Wheat-lemon after.

750ml bottle from Binny’s Lincoln Park. Batch #100. Pours a hazed yellow-gold colored body with a finger-width, fizzy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is tart lemons and wheat with an even amount of lactic acid and bretty funk. A bit of a verbena spiced note with some apples and a slight white grape. Flavor is similar. Crisp, moderately tart wheats with a nice bretty funk and lactic acidity. Lemony with a mild verbena spice, apples, and a bit of a vinous touch. Gets somewhat earthy towards the end before finishing dry and tart with a nice funk, light spicing, crisp wheat, and lemony note. Lengthy aftertaste following a crisp, medium-light body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a really nice Berliner Weisse. Tart and funky, but well balanced, crisp, and easy drinking. Good one.

Bomber poured into a pint glass. Pours hazy yellow with a huge fluffy white head. Aroma is lemon, wheat, bread. Flavor is tart and somewhat sour, with simple lemongrass and bread flavors. Light to medium body, typical for a wheat beer. I thought this one smelled great but in the end was over-hyped and just meh.

Bottle. Pours hazy hay with a big pillow of white head. Nice slightly sour, wheaty, bready aroma with hints of lemongrass. Taste is not as intensely sour as described, but not necessarily a bad thing here. There is a nice tartness, definite wheat tones. IT’s a good beer, but the description is way overblown. This is a very nice, crisp, easy drinker.

Bottle poured into glass. Can’t remember who brought this, maybe MikeLovesBeer, thanks buddy. Slightly sour with a tad bit of tartness to it. Wheaty flavors definitely linger a bit but it never felt like I was drinking a wheat based beer.

Older bottle batch 78. Pours straw yellow Hazy with medium white head. Aroma is hay, slight cheese funk, sour elements and some fruit I can’t distinguish. Taste is initially slightly sweet then strong sour that has a great mouth feel and a over drinkable side. Refreshing beyond belief. Love this overall for a summer camping beer. Can it!
