3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Corked bottle from Valley Farm Market. Hazy dark amber brown in color. A lot of foam welling up. Nose is slightly sweet with some dark fruit and fig. Quite sweet up front. Slick and full bodied. Sweet seems to dominate this brew. Seems like a little bit of a rye twang as well. Alcohol is well hidden. Pretty tasty. Batch 79, 10% ABV.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle via a trade I did a few years ago. Can’t remember who sent it- thanks, Southern California nice guy! Bottled 4 February 2010. I actually thought it was older by a year or so. Anyway, pours a somewhat cloudy amber color with some red-orange hue and a moderate off-white head. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, rye, dried fruits (raisin, fig), and a steady, warming booze throughout. The hops have pretty much died here due to my 3+ year cellaring of it. Medium-bodied, with a boozy, malty mouthfeel and moderate carbonatoin. Nice barley wine.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled at esbls. Left by Hayduke. Opaque red gold. A blotchy off white head. This smells like a barley wine. Malty and grainy. Big fruit is tasted. Hops are fruity and floral. This is sweet and it hides the abv well. Nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle. Clearish amber orange with a big foamy off white head. Aroma of herbal tea, spice, caramel, citrus and floral. Flavor is sweet honey malt, musty yeast, spicy and alcohol. Medium body with active carbonation. Very interesting beer, sweet, spicy, musty, herbal, it has a lot going on and comes together fairly well.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 beers this beer poured a caramel-brown color with a small foamy tan head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was sour with toasted caramel, fig and Worcestershire sauce. The flavor was sour toasted caramel, fig, apple, Worcestershire sauce and tobacco with an astringent and medicinal undertone. Medium length finish of caramel, apple and Worcestershire sauce. Medium body though a bit undercarbonated. Disappointing.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
holy nuts this is good. On tap at Kinetic Brewing company. Nose of light stone fruits, peaches, apricots, vanilla, florals. Pours a light yellow with a large head for a beer this heft. Taste is sweet and light with a very hidden alcohol presence. This almost comes across as refreshing. Overall I am going to make sure to pick this up next timeI see it. DEFINITELY! NOT a barleywine! but something to seek out for sure.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
His beer is very interesting. It has a lot of light and delicate flavors in the background like sour, tart, spice, grain. While a big sweet and hops is up front. Complex rye wine. Delicious really. Has an exotic appeal. Rich tart caramel finish. Excellent.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle–thanks to a generous trader-pours hazy copper with a tan head. Aroma is light/medium fruit, malty/wheat. Taste is light/medium fruit-pear, spice hops, rye/malty/wheat-caramel/toast. 3.4 OK, as it warms, [1st glass I let warm to maybe 40, 2nd glass to mid/upper 40s] nice softening and some more esters+flavors. 3.8

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Corked bottle and served in NB worthy glass: Pours a deep amber with a small but lasting frothy head, spotty lace and some oily legs. The aroma has notes of crystal/caramel, bready pale, and slight roast malts. Some apple, pear, and grape fruity esters along with a dash of white pepper and dank. The rye seems to come out after warming up and really adds nice depth. The taste is smooth hybrid of an American and an English Barley Wine... heavy malt profile but the rye and brash dank American hops really keeps this in harmony and balance. I like the combination of tropical and orchard fruits The rye overtones makes this beer IMO. Yes, it is still a bit hot and forward making me think it cellar worthy but alas I only bought one bottle. The mouth feel is brash, aggressive and pungent with an minerally background. A nice BW which I come about after these years is not my favorite style. I would buy again only to lay down for 3-5 years.
