COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Mexican hot chocolate.Telegraph Winter Ale warms even the coldest of nights with hints of cinnamon, allspice, and sweet ancho chilies.Using generous amounts of chocolate and caramel malts,we brew this beer in limited quantities as a special treat for our friends and families.Be sure to enjoy it cool, rather than cold to fully appreciate its complexity.

Pours a nearly opaque dark mahogany with a thin-lacing tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet dark caramel malt and a hint of cinnamon toward a semi-tart finish. Body starts with a sweet dark caramel and spiced finish with light fruity tartness throughout. Finishes thinner and semi-tart with a hint of doughy yeast. Interesting, but I’d like it without the tartness.

Pours a deep brown color with a brown head. Aroma is herbal, spice, and cinnamon. Flavor is malty, roasty, spicy, and cinnamon.

Bottle from Sandys, San Luis Obispo, picked up by Odeed; Thanks Jake; Nose of vegetable chilies, chocolate, and caramel; clear, very dark brown with red fringes; one finger, extremely lomg-lasting, glass-lacing, tan head; flavor of chocolate, sweetnees, vegetable flavor of chilies, but no real heat since anchos are very mild, caramel, spices, and a tiny bit of tartness for a finish. Could be a porter without the chilies! Now this is a chili beer!

This had an average aroma. It had a great head and color. The color was a very dark brown, almost black. It tasted mostly like a stout, with hints of chocolate, has a bit of a sour bite.Very slight hint of musky spices.Pretty good beer, but for this style I would rather be drinking Fuller’s London Porter. This beer is very close to being a stout.
