Sample at Bruery Provisions. Pours a reddish-brown color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Sweet spices like ginger and allspice in the nose, plus a bit of malt. Medium body with flavors of cinnamon, ginger, bready malt and caramel. The finish is sweetly spiced with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pours a nice Brown with a tan head..spicy aroma of cinnamon, allspice and plenty of dark Belgian notes. Taste is very similar. Alot of spice going on here. I enjoyed this style, but it could be toned down a little overall.

November 30th, 2012 - I donít recall the where, when and how this ale came into my possession, nor when I drank it, but the timing seems right. Any beer inspired by Mexican hot chocolate needs colder climes to bring out its true intentions. Perhaps due to coming fresh from the fridge, the aroma is blunted, quiet, and what little of it is there speaks of red grapes and overripe strawberries, amply sweet and full of fructose goodness. The taste is much more clearly that "Cup of Christmas Cheer" blend of flavors: tons of cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, gingerbread and other things nice. The body is light, keeping all of these high-edge flavors at bay, and it ends with an especially celebratory finish of chili spiciness. This is a lot of flavors bundled into one ornate gift, and like so many suburban Christmas decorations, where there isnít harmony, thereís volume and pizazz, and thatís what this beer has in spades.

Bottle, shared with Bartzilla. Dark brown color. Trippy spicy sweet aroma. Flavor is cinnamon, clove, toothpaste and bubblegum. A little pepper on the finish, but I was surprised that the chiliís werenít more prominent. Just not my thing.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of spices, cinnamon, caramel, malt, and other spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, spices, over ripe fruits, and some wood, leading to a dry woody finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Sent in a trade from Hayduke with whom it was shared via Facebook chat. This is not a typical Winter Ale. It pours with a gushing light tan head that takes a while to dissipate. the beer is dark brown and opaque. The nose is huge spices followed by more spices. That is the flavor, too. Tons of spice. Then chile peppers show up. They attack the tongue tip with a vengeance. At some point cocoa is tasted that is never big and reminds me of powdered hot chocolate mix. At the end dark fruit, especially raisins, emerges. The finish is pepper, cocoa and raisins. This beer borders on being odd but somehow it all works, but barely.

On tap at PP San Clemente. A darker than expected brown color with an off white/tan head. Aroma of peppers, spice, chocolate and bread. Flavor tated a bit hot, so I wonder what the alcohol content was. Maybe it was the spicing. Overall it was a bit strange and I am not sure the flavors meshed too well. That being said, there were a lot of prominant flavors, such as bread, spice, fruit, pepper and bread. Just ok for me.
