Pours very dark brown with almost no head. Brown sugar, coffee and burnt toast aromas. Sweet nutty flavors fade into some hop presence and are followed up by roasty tones. Full on the palate with very subtle carbonation.

Malty chocolate aroma. Taste is very malty and slight chocolate but not sweet and well balanced. Get a slight floral hop aftertaste which prob helps balance the malt. Bitter finish. Overall a very good brown.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Shaker pint draft at The Red Onion in Aspen, Colorado. The pour is a hazed brown light copper with a one inch tan head. The aroma is nut, lightly roasted malt and a soft sweetness caramel. The taste is a clean balance of the soft roast malt, hazelnut, and a touch of lingering sweetness from the caramel. The palate is light to medium bodied, active natural carbonation and the lightly sweet finish. Clean and easy drinking.

Can - pour is dark ruby - thin, soapy lace - nose of hazelnut and toffee, but also some odd notes of earthy/soil and a sweet chocolate candy/tootsie roll quality - flavor is mildly sweet up front, followed by some dry roasted nut flavor, but it quickly becomes quite bitter/hoppy - I don’t inherently dislike hoppy browns, but the choice of hops here doesn’t really work - the citrus of the cascades in particular really clash with the malt profile - rough, difficult to enjoy.

Enjoying this one. Pours a very dark amber, brown. Solid tan head that disappears too quickly. Fairly well-roasted malts, some toffee for sure on the nose. Also some light bitter chocolate. Flavors are similar with nice roastiness and medium sweet that is well-balanced with good bitter finish. Nice lingering flavors and aromas on this med-full bodied brown.

On tap @ West End. Dark brown pour with an off-white head. Aromas of toast, roast, and licorice. Light coffee, some ash, and dark fruit. Decent malt sweetness. Flavor is a bit on the ashy side, maybe a touch acidic. Coffee, roast, and licorice notes as well. Sweet toasted malt and molasses.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Euclid Hall. Pours very dark brown with an inch of thick khaki foam. Leaves a lot of sticky lacing in the glass. Has a bit of nuttiness on the nose. There’s much more flavor on the tongue. It’s not quite line cracking a pecan in your mouth but its on the road. Finish lingers a bit but solid otherwise.

12oz can picked up at Wilburs in CO
Pours clear dark brown with a medium sized tan head and good lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, chocolate, coffee and nutty. Flavors of roasted malts, chocolate, toffee and ash
Wow, this blew me away. Not what I expected at all, a very good brown ale! It might have helped that I drank this after a terrible DFH beer. But this is very good either way.
