3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, orange, apricot, resin). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic, lightly astringent.
This is a touch acidic and husky in the flavor department, but the aroma and mouthfeel are nice...decent hop complexity that emphasizes fruity-citrusy characters instead of raw resin. Significantly better than usual for this brewery...the first that I find drinkable.

Telluride, CO - OAK Beer, Bourbon & BBQ - on tap. Dark copper pour, medium thick off-white head, decent lacing. Aroma has some solid spruce notes with a a hint of ripening vegetables to go along with it. Flavor has the requisite citrus bitterness, some caramel malty notes, a bit of ripening vegetable funkiness. Decently thick mouthfeel. Solid IPA. Amazing setting at the base of the gondola that takes you up to Mountain Village in Telluride.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Having been to Telluride via Black Bear Road, been to Telluride Brewing before Gold for FACE DOWN BROWN...This is a PRIME example of IPA!
Piney like the San Juans, Long Lasting Bitterness like the steps & switchbacks on World Famous Black Bear Pass. Refreshing like Bridal Veil Falls...Correct me if I’m WRONG...

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not a bad IPA - just not an excellent one. Aroma is faint pine and floral. Taste is complex, but the elements don’t play well with each other.

12 oz can. Tasted on 7/22/14. Beer from Espo... Thanks. The beer has a copper/light amber color. The aroma has a medium dank scent with a slight spicy scent too. The taste is slightly more subdued than the aroma but has nice pine & citrus notes. The finish is pretty dry with a good bitterness. Overall a pretty good ipa.

Earthy, pine, spruce hops. Really balanced with a nice dry, resiny finish. Moderate bitterness. Excellent after a hike and with pizza here at Brown Dog Pizza in Terruride, CO.
