Cask, Regular;
A porter designed to be smooth and irresistible, Black is back, with a controlled roast character, hint of coffee with chocolate on the side followed by a depth charge of palate cleansing late American hops.

"Elemental Dark" Porter bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. A black beer that pours with a thin tan head. It has a rich dark chocolate flavour, nutty and liquorice notes with milk chocolate, currants and oak on the finish. Excellent!

Had this on cask upon my first visit to The Bow Bar in Edinburgh. A nice but not too strong porter with hints of toffee and coffee.

Cask at the Bow Bar. Rich supple and fine structure of silky black kicks off this deliciously fine porter. Much depth and complexity abounds.Very fine.

Bottle from Provenance Wines. Dark brown body with ruby highlights and a thick beige head. Aroma of of leather, sweat, nuts and a hint of stewed fig. Flavour of filter coffee, earth and wood. Medium body with a smooth, creamy texture. Soft fizz. A light, sweet Porter.

On cask at York Tap. Got the look of a stout with a tan head. Quite complex but a little too bit at the end. Enjoyable,

Craft - Clerkenwell. Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Smooth palate with mild fine carbonation. Smooth and mellow dark malt. Mild minerals. A nice touch of generic fruit adds complexity and rounds things off nicely. Smooth finish. Decent.

Cask @ Caley, Edinburgh [060313]
Very dark brown, some light through, thin tan head, some lacing
Aroma of roasted malt, bit woody smoke
Taste of roasted malts, bitter roast, some woody smoke, dark malts
Palate - Medium body, fairly smooth, some oiliness. Finish of roasted malts, soft smoke, some sweet dark malts, bitter hops and bitter roast, hint of chocolate, slightly dry
Overall - Not that keen on the smokiness and a bit bitter for me for a stout

Black, creamy tan head. Vanilla, coffee and perhaps toffee on the nose. Very bitter coffee flavours, with plenty of roastiness, though perhaps a touch thin.
