COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Regular;
A porter designed to be smooth and irresistible, Black is back, with a controlled roast character, hint of coffee with chocolate on the side followed by a depth charge of palate cleansing late American hops.

On cask at York Tap. Got the look of a stout with a tan head. Quite complex but a little too bit at the end. Enjoyable,

Craft - Clerkenwell. Opaque dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Smooth palate with mild fine carbonation. Smooth and mellow dark malt. Mild minerals. A nice touch of generic fruit adds complexity and rounds things off nicely. Smooth finish. Decent.

Cask @ Caley, Edinburgh [060313]
Very dark brown, some light through, thin tan head, some lacing
Aroma of roasted malt, bit woody smoke
Taste of roasted malts, bitter roast, some woody smoke, dark malts
Palate - Medium body, fairly smooth, some oiliness. Finish of roasted malts, soft smoke, some sweet dark malts, bitter hops and bitter roast, hint of chocolate, slightly dry
Overall - Not that keen on the smokiness and a bit bitter for me for a stout

Black, creamy tan head. Vanilla, coffee and perhaps toffee on the nose. Very bitter coffee flavours, with plenty of roastiness, though perhaps a touch thin.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 26 Nov 2011) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, dark bread and liquorice. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness and a decent coffee bitterness. Well balanced and very tasty. Nice porter.
