Bottle from Corks of Cotham, Bristol. Jet black and opaque, with a tight, beige, head. Rich aroma of ripe blackberries, pine, plain chocolate and orange peel. Flavour had more chocolate, toasty malts, some black currant fruit pastille sweetness, followed by some pine and a dryish finish. Excellent.

Bottle at home. Toasted malt, blackberry, bitter chocolate, citrus and pine. Porter by appearance. IPA by attitude. Top notch.

gegwilson (2103) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JUN 12, 2015
Bottle from Rehills of Jesmond. Pours almost black with a good tan head. Big sweet grapefruit and pine aroma. The taste is full with lots of resinous pine and sweeter tropical notes. The roasted malt flavour is a little in the background. Some coffee and burnt toast. Very tasty.

Black IPA. 330ml, brown bottle, cork and cask, Edinburgh. Scent is strong grapefruit zest and lightly bitter. Pours black with a thin brown head like a cola. Taste is earthy, full-bodied, and malty. Fantastic.

Bought in Rehill’s in Newcastle. Pours black with beige head. Looks great. The intensive aroma and taste that of pine and hops with a bit of resin. Medium Bitterness which lingers for a while. One of my favourite black IPAs. Very drinkable too. Recommend it.

GlasgowTAD (588) - Glasgow/Aberdeen, SCOTLAND - APR 24, 2015
Pours a deep black with a large and thick mocha-brown head. Aroma is fruity, roasty, coffee and chocolate sweet. Taste is hop resin, slight caramel, slight malt sweetness, earthy, cocoa and slight coffee. Medium-full bodied with a slightly oily mouthfeel. BB May 2015 so this bottle has been around for a while but the taste has not deteriorated much when compared to other, fresher Black IPAs.

nihtila (1721) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 27, 2015
27.12.2014. Aroma of burnt malts, strong piney hops, pine needles. Taste is quite strong and intense with dark malts and again strong pine notes, both in taste and hops. Very tast BIPA but heavy so small amount is preferred.

Cuso (5977) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - MAR 2, 2015
Bottle from European local swap kindly donated by BenH, many thanks. Very dark brown color with huge beige head. Strong citrus hoppy aroma with nutty notes. Strong citrus hoppy taste with grapefruit, pines, resin. Solid dark malty backbone with coffee notes. Long hoppy bitter finish with light roasty notes. Alcohol is dangerously hidden. Tasty, well balanced beer.
