My Bottom Line:
Blatant caramel envelops light phenolics and wooden hops for a lean, serviceable Weizenbock.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the misty copper.
-Carbonation is not expansive enough for the style.
-Malts also share toasty notes.
-Nose is quite bland for the style.
-This brew might have been well conceived but it was a massive disappointment for me since my expectations for anything that Weihenstephaner touches are sky high. This is so far from the quality of Vitus…

Bottle at RBJG2. Clear amber color. Aroma is sweet and boozy with a bit of medicinal caramel. Taste is dilute caramel and brownies.

Was hoping for something special here - what I got was a thick, moderately unbalanced heavy weizen. Lacking finesse or charm, it came off a bit clunky, which is surprising given these two names, especially weihenstepaner. Bready, phenolic, banana, date and stewed plums.

Bottled. Dirty dark brown with lace. Very estery, fruit flavors, sweet chocolate covered fruits, banana, cloves. OK. Not as good as I might have hoped.

500mL bottle. Pours hazy amber-gold with a thin off-white head. Strong phenolic aroma with some fresh fruit and malt. Mild bitterness and sweetness, slightly bready flavour on top of the fruit and malt. Medium body, average carbonation but lots of creamy foam forming on the palate, and a lingering bitterness.

500ml bottle. Brown cola like colour with a steady head that looks the goods. Packed with big fruity aromas mixed with spice and some banana also thrown into the mix. Great flavour with a really smooth mouthfeel.

Pours dark copper with ruby tints and a large head.
Nose shows doughy wheat, over-ripe bananas, caramel, cloves, golden syrup and sultanas.
Sweet flavours, again showing doughy notes and lots of golden syrup. Also some cloves and alcohol.
Too much carbonation.
