Created in 18th century London, porters were some of the first mass-produced and consumed beers of the industrial revolution. Porter evolved from a blend of brown and darker beers that were precursors to stouts. Tradition has it that these beers were favored by porters and other physical laborers. Ten Ninety Imperial Porter is fiery elegance. Our porter is brewed with ample Munich, mild brown and de-bittered black malts for a chocolaty, espresso base. To contrast this bittersweet backbone, we added an ample dose of cayenne pepper, and tempered this heat with tart pomegranate juice. Ten Ninety Imperial Porter is a perfect match for bold, smoky and cured meats as well as deeply roasted fowl and caramelized seafood.

12oz bottle shared by Brad. Unfiltered brown-black. Patchy beige head. The cayenne cuts through and leaves some serious heat. Touch of heat, lol. This is hot! All heat. Wow. Good. But hot. One of the hotter beers Iíve had.

This is very tasty as the bready and toasted malt meets the twang of the Pomegranate and the spicy slightly warming finish of the Cayenne. Exceeded my expectations and something I wished I would have bought more than one... But alas this is a few months old so I doubt I can find any just laying around.

Bottled. Poured cloudy dark brown with a short-lived head. The aroma picked up lots of pomegranate and pepperecorns over toasted cocoa.. more fruit than anything else. The flavor found tart pomegranate on the tip of the tongue, with lightly-roasted cocoa and black malts behind.. much more spicy, smoky pepper on the back and through the finish. Heavier-bodied and increasingly spicy as it warmed up.. not enough of the base beer showed up.

12oz bottle, poured into a snifter. Milk chocolate aromas are noted right off the pour with cayenne undertones. Sweet, tart cherry and pomegranate comes in after that, but fades and leaves a cayenne and milky caramel aroma with a light booziness that doesnít stick around. It pours a dark, murky brown with a dense, foamy tan head that reduces quickly and leaves a thin, sparse, soap ring and a very light lace. The taste is a medium bitter and medium high sweet with a spicy heat throughout. The beer is oily and slightly sticky with a fuzzy carbonation. The full body is spicy, sweet, and tart with notes of cacao, pomegranate, cherry, and, initially, a potent cayenne swell. The cayenne tones down by mid glass (or perhaps there was enough of a cayenne base in my mouth) and shifts towards the fruit flavors and sweet milk chocolate at the finish with caramel notes coming through as it warms. The cayenne heat lingers in the aftertaste with cacao and pomegranate late.

This.poured a darker brown with a beige head. Atoms was of Bourbon, fudge, pepper and.tropical fruit. Flavor was similar, really unique with the heat and fruit blending well with the fidgety character of the beer. Loved it

Pours a dark muddy brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, spices and something sweet that could be either the chocolate or spices. The flavor is very minimal but the pepper hits the back of your mouth and hangs around long enough to be annoying. It doesnít seem hot though. Overall a really unique porter. Iím always looking forward to finding good porters but this is to strange for me. Not hot and annoying.

Approximately 8 ounces from a 12 oz. bottle. Sharp, malty, acidic aroma showcases roasted malts and roasted pepper. Pleasant but not extraordinary smell. Pours a translucent medium brown with a small to moderate amount of tan head. Quite spicy taste, leaving spice heat in the back of the throat, but in far from an off-putting way. Just the right amount of pepper, which is to say a lot, but not an overwhelming amount. The pomegranate is evident in the form of a tangy fruitiness. Iíll count the spicy burn as a strong favorable element in the palate. Medium body. Soft and lively. Good and tasty beer! I like it! The cayenne and pomegranate work very well together in a way I would not have expected.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a snifter. Bottle courtesy of JT, thanks man. The appearance was a dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated with about a minute. Light lacing was here and there in a speckled sort of fashion. The smell had a really nice bittersweet pervasive chocolate to coffee delicacy roaming underneath my nose. Thereís a decent peppery spice that slips in to kick it on up a bit. The taste took the chocolate and coffee to let a nice roasty and yet sweet silky smooth flavor all in. Peppery spice adds a bit but not too much. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with more of a sipping aspect to it. The carbonation falls off a bit but is still okay for the style and for me. Peppery spice hits the tongue but doesnít make it submit too much. Overall, this was a strong sweet and peppery imperial porter that I could have again.

Decent stout/porter, lots of pepper and chili. Like a Bloody Mary. Had a hint of sweet and tart, but the chili on the back end really took over. It seemed a little thin for the 10.8%

750ml bottle from DiCarlos in Mundelein and cellar aged 3 months. Shared with ck1 on the last afternoon of the family holiday weekend; the kitchen will smell good. Heat and chipolte. Some caramel and a bit of roast but the pepper leads. 13.5
