COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Tenacious Traveler is invigorating, breaking from the norm of traditional Shandys. A persistent fellow with a spicy disposition, TT is a bright, vibrant wheat beer brewed with real ginger and clover honey that delivers the perfect balance between sweet and spice.

THOUGHTS: Very light and fairly flavorful, but a little watered down. It would make a nice lawnmower drink. I say drink, because it’s barely a beer. The ginger got a little hot by the end. TECHNICAL:Bottle. Poured a muddy, slightly greenish, dirty looking, medium yellow with tons of tiny bubbles and a large, white head that left fair to good lacing. The aroma had honey, ginger, hints of lemon; but mostly ginger. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and acidic; while the finish was lightly sweet, lightly acidic and slightly bitter. There was lemon, ginger, honey, but it was somehow all watered down. The light to medium body was a little bit watery with fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly astringent finish.

Pours hazy straw color with a 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of ginger ale mixed with lemon. Body is light with a slight syrupy thickness. Lightly fizzy, with a brief finish. Flavor of lemon mixed with a bite of ginger. Some honey underneath. Mild ginger note lingers in the finish.

Transfer from BA review on 7-14-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a quite hazy orange-peach color with a billowy just off white head. The head dissipates over time to leave a light level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is quite heavy of ginger with it clearly dominating the smell. With the strong ginger, is a lighter lemonade smell and some aromas of a light honey smell as well. Taste - The taste begins with a mix of a malty grainy taste mixed with lots of sweeter lemon tastes. Quickly ginger comes to the tongue adding an almost ginger ale type taste to the brew. In the end the ginger flavors grow stronger along with the lemonade, producing a spicy ginger and lemonade flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel-The body of the brew is actually slightly thicker then I would have expected for a shandy of only 4.4 % abv with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. The higher carbonation is great for all the spicy ginger flavors, but the body would possibly be more refreshing if slightly thinner. The thicker body was actually fairly decent overall though as it did really allow all the ginger flavors to linger on the tongue. Overall- A rather nice take on a shandy. If you are looking for something sweeter, more lemonade and ginger ale like then this is a good go to. Nicely done for the style.

12 ounce bottle from Wegman’s Lake Manassas, opened 6/5/14. Pours a hazy yellow color with a thin fizzy white head. Average head retention. Aroma of tart lemon, ginger, spice. The taste is strong ginger, candied ginger, spice, dry lemon, pale malt. Medium bodied, lingering spice.

From bottle. Honey ginger aroma with some citrus. Sweet and fruity. Medium amber cloudy with chunks. Thin white head. Medium-light body with medium carbonation. Sweet with honey, lemon, and ginger. Herbal and sweet throughout - too sweet. Finish is ginger, lemon peel, and sugar.

A nice shandy overall, with some wheaty/malty notes towards the end a refreshing lemon zest. Not overly sweet or lemonade-ish, but definitely well within the bounds of a shandy. The added grapefruit juice is noticeable at the beginning and end, and fits in nicely. Pleasant. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tenacious Traveler Shandy has a fairly thick, soapy, white head, an opaque, wheaty-orange appearance, lots of fierce, streaming bubbles, and minimal lacing. The aroma is of a spiced candle and possibly bread. Taste is very spiced (not hot), and one is met with intense ginger, some clover honey, and sweet bread. Mouthfeel is full and heavy, and Tenacious Traveler Shandy finishes sloppy, sweet, rich, and spiced. Overall, for what it is, it’s really well made. RJT

Ginger lemon aroma. Pale hazy amber color. Taste of ginger and honey with lemon in the background. Clean sweat finish. Tough time handling this combination. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Cloudy dark gold. Taste and smells like instant lemonade mixed with beer. Just not for me.

Bottle. Nose is very sweet with strong lemon, some wheat, and very strong ginger. Quite a bit of artificiality going on there, or at least similar overtones, I’m afraid. Pours Cloudy golden with a fizzy white head. Light body, sweet but not explosively cloying. The ginger is vibrant and very much appreciated, cuts through the sugar and even dries things out a bit; finish and aftertaste are essentially dry and lightly spicy. Warming and refreshing, almost a burn in the throat from the ginger, with hints of honey and lemon cleanser, soft wheat. Good for what it is; I’ve had many far, far worse examples in Germany.
