4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours a thick and near-black color with a moderate light brown head on it. Nose is very roasty with just a bit of chocolate in there, and a hint of some alcohol in there. Taste is smooth and creamy, with a healthy amount of chocolate and roasting. Very yummy.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thick black motor oil (chug chug..glug glug) pour, lots of dark brown head the slowly dissipates. Aroma - intense intense roast, like french roast coffee to the max, somewhat smokey with an almost ash or burnt like tinge, some bittersweet coco,a bit of hop presence. Taste - very roasty, anise, thick mouthfeel, some sweetness, excellent finish..bittersweet, complex, this a really really good imp stout., very easy drinking but with lots of flavour and zero heat from the abv..I may just finish this bomber tonight after all.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled on 11/7/13 - love seeing that on a bottle and even better when it is hand written. Thick oily pour, deep brown cap has fizzled down to a spotty skim. Nice aroma but way better flavor. Thick, creamy almond nose with softly roasted malts, mellow chocolate, light lactose, raisins, weak coffee and something that reminds me of mike and Dorothy’s house. Taste is where this excels. Perfect balance of sweetness, roast and soothing thoughts. Savoury sweet red berries, very tasty chocolate is a huge character, choco orange, silky smooth malts and salivation constantly. Light hop thought with a background hop burn but it’s only sort of there early while easier to pick up when at room temp - that is where this becomes a beer that makes my elbow pits sweat and my taint gamey. Tasty tasty wonderfulness. Slick feel, perfect carbonation that seems to last only as a passing memory. I have new fave beer. This is awesome.

pitch black color. Very strange nose with odd hops. An ashtray with some dark chocolates, but not well balanced or interesting

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A good Stout overall with a lack of oomph. Pours a deep, dark black with a creamy espresso foam head. The nose is well roasted with big espresso and mocha notes, mild hoppy aroma as well. Nice sweet and syrupy mouthfeel with a heavy but not overbearing roast. Lingering bitterness and roasted coffee notes.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - Rich bitter chocolate, a bit of coffee and roast malts. Jet black with a rich brown head. Bittersweet chocolate, some dark fruit and booze. Very rich on the tongue. The finish has a bitterness that seems a bit excessive, but balances the sweetness.

Bottle thanks to duchammer: Poured a dark black brown with light thin brown head. Thick roasted malt fills your nose. Taste rich chocolate and malts very thick but with a light bitterness.

Rating #934 - January 21, 2014 - #beerguychrisgeekbeer Week 3. Pours a great espresso brown with a weak tan head that caps nicely in my St. Ambroise calice. Aroma is heavy roast malt and coffee, chocolate. Taste is heavy on roast malt and coffee flavours, heavy on espresso. Alcohol disguised and balanced well. Excellent hoppy bitterness. Very well done.

If there is one thing I can say about stouts, it is that I love it when I cannot tell them apart from motor oil. Tenaya Creek’s Imperial offering pours like black velvet with a chocolate-brown head. It is black as pitch and looks absolutely perfect. Scent of sweet malts, chocolate, coffee, bit of vanilla- the usual suspects in a good black beer. The taste echoes all of those, balanced with a slight coffee-like bitterness that makes for a very nice balance. Rich on the tongue with a long, pleasant aftertaste. This is a damn fine Imperial; I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good stout.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
bomber, black pour, tasty, creamy, for an imperial stout, it was easy to drink. Well balanced and complex. At times just a little too sweet (probably coming from the 9.3%abv).
