Bottle marked as from 12/12/12. Pours with a black hued body with a nicely retentive brown head. Aromas are of brown sugar, prunes, chocolate, ash, char and dark fruit. Flavors are ashy, dark fruit, chocolate. Astringent roast character. Harshly roasty, yet overall it is okay. Medium bitterness, fuller body, creamy carbonation.

This was rich and complex stout. The smell was like spent coffee beans, caramel and dark chocolate. It had nice flavors of cocoa, molasses, more caramel and roast with a bold dark chocolate finish. Nice stuff, and thank you Markwise for sharing!
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 OmegaX (1001) - Florida, USA - MAY 10, 2013

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ibrew2or3 (5823) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 7, 2013
White waxed 22oz bomber pours with a deep dark body with mahogany edges and supporting a nice looking mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up malt sweetness enhanced dark roasted malts, some chocolate and a bit of sweet dark fruit ester notes. The aroma improves as it warms. The taste starts with a sweet malt note mixing with dark roasted malts, some sweet dark fruity ester goodness and chocolate. It gets more roasty to midway and into the finish where a booziness surfaces beyond what one might expect from a 9.3% Imperial Stout. But booziness is part of the style in my opinion. Although it is a bit thin in body too I really dig this stuff.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 alexanderj (3082) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Bottle; poured a very dark brown/black with a big brown head. Aroma of ripe fruit and caramel, with some roasted, coffee, and earthy notes. Some wood and soy sauce. Only a hint of sweetness. Alcohol subdued. Flavor was fairly pronounced; with a strong roasted and earthy bitterness. Alcohol is subdued, but present. Would have liked some sweetness and more caramel to subdue the powerful roasted presence. Flavor did linger. A solid beer, but lacking in complexity compared to other of the style.

On tap at brewery, pours an opaque black with a big frothy brown head that leaves spotty lace. Aroma of black licorice, roasted malts, dried fruit esthers, chocolate & coffee. Taste is espresso, chocolate, some dried fruits & a very smooth alcohol warming. Excellent fl bodied imperial stout that’s seems fairly easy to drink for bits high abv.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 superspak (1534) - Michigan, USA - JAN 19, 2013
22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/14/2011. Pours pitch black color with a nice 1 finger dense khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, toffee, coffee, biscuit, nuttiness, toast, and light dark fruitiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance, strength, and complexity of roasted flavors. Taste of dark chocolate, espresso, cocoa, roasted malt, caramel, toast, nuttiness, toffee, brown sugar, roasted coffee, and slight dark fruits. Fair amount of coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, espresso, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, coffee, and slight dark fruits on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic flavor balance, complexity, and robustness; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent imperial stout. Excellent balance and robustness of roasted and dark malty flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Taste, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, wood, alcohol. Burned sugar bitterness in finish. Full bodied beer. Extremely delicious beer.
