Ye olde Tennents Lager, where to start...
The first beer I ever tried and the lager I go for when there is no ales available in the pub Iím in. This stuff should probably be considered Scotlandís national drink.
This is by no means a great beer but I have a nostalgic attachment. When itís sunny outside and you find yourself in a West of Scotland beer garden nothing will quench your thirst quite like a pint of this. Cheep, cheerful and refreshing.
Pours a clear gold with a small white head. Aroma is citrus, slight copper, bread. Taste is lemony, bread, tinny, quite watery.
It may not be the best beer youíll ever drink but I enjoy it and I will continue to enjoy it. Long live the Tinnints aka pish water

Transferring Old Data - Can - I think this was my first beer ever from Scotland back then. Simple, uninspiring. Rather bad.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
This ones from memory: Iíve probably had over a 1000 of these throughout the course of my existence so I think Iím qualified to rate it this way.
I am going to mark this milestone with a throwback to my early days of beer-drinking and a mark of appreciation to all those who Iíve had the pleasure of sharing a beer with; a shoutout to the 6th criterion, a hidden one, although it is inherently subjective so itíd be pointless including it - the social aspect.
Not only can it get the conversation going but it has the ability of bringing people together. Pointless small-talk with the bar staff after work? Thats beer. Getting rustled by the rusty CAMRA-head in your local? Thats beer. Sharing beers, in the company of some great people previously unknown? Thats beer.
Sitting in cgarvieuks with Stu666, BenH, allmyvinyl and McNeillR (and his wife + the guests whoíve come along) slaying 40-50 bottles in a few hours? Fruitful
Homebrew tastings with Gareth, Jake, Frank and the homebrew co (opted to exclude othersí namesí incase they donít want it all over the internet; those mentioned are fairly public in the beer world)? Eye-opening
Slaying whales with some Swedes at Akkurat and Norrtalje? Cultural
Getting craft-blootered with blue_zulu and other friends/acquaintances? Enriching
BobbyHeenan and the rest of the people Iíve traded with: youíve provided many bottles and your contribution has been far-reaching, to many more trades!
Now on to the beer:
This beer has lubricated many social gatherings; its transformative effects are incredible - it has the ability to turn a dull family dinner situation into front row at a Justin Bieber gig.
Beer is elementally similar yet so different and with multiple layers of complexity, this is a great reminder of the fact.
Iím not going to use many adjectives to describe this beer - chances are youíve had something similar before and if you havenít then go out there and treat yourself to a fairly priced pale macro lager from a large supermarket chain, itíll be quite similarly bland and uninteresting for the majority of this audience.
This spiel is a bit OTT for a 1000th rate but I I doubt iíll ever reach the lofty summits of 5 figures that some have conquered so instead, Iíll take the opportunity at my first and possibly only significant milestone.
Iíll probably have another 1000 of these which will consume productive rating time, but I will endeavour to keep on rating the craftier beers, to address the balance.
5/5 for inspiring me to find better beer and, consequentially, on to new experiences, friendships and this moment of reflection.
