Mild notes of dark malt through the corn in the very light aroma. Clear dark amber brown coloured body topped by a dense, fine bubbled, off white, nitro head that lasts throughout but does not stick to the sides of the glass. Sweet molasses and candy flavour with a hint of dark malts in the finish. Flavour is pretty bland and smooth due to the strong nitro service. Light bodied but smooth, soft bubbled and bland in the mouth. Not really much about this says Scotch Ale (or Wee Heavy as it was listed). This seems more like an anemic brown ale on nitro. Served on draught at the Horseshoe Inn in Uddingston, Scotland (May-06).

Keg at Guildford Arms, Edingburgh. Reddish brown swirly opaque with forced cream head. Sweet sugary beer with an underlying boiled maltiness. Overly smooth with the nitrogen, very poor fare.

A great beer as I just tasted it again after several years. Big nose and big mouth feel, a lovely beer, I also found it nicely hopped at the finish.

Even though it’s a macro brew, it’s still very, very good
