Dickinsonbeer (2550), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Nov 10, 2004 This was one of my favorites from this brewery but that still isnt saying too much. Nice deep hazy yeasty particle color with a moderate head and some lace- similar look as rochefort but this one is more clear and a lesser body. Chocolate and nutty malt flavor along with yeast and spice. Pretty solid finish and you cant really taste the alc until the end.
Nate (2255), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 19, 2004 Rich malty nose, with notes of Twizzlers/Tootsie Roll, and chocolate milk. Very clean and refreshing. Deep red-brown, hazy, with off-white lacing head. Medium body with soft medium carbonation - goes down smooth. Starts with light sweetness and malts, medium acidity, and no bitterness. The label says 8.5%, but I don’t think that’s right. I think that the Brune is actually the Ambrée, which is actually a blonde. Certainly can’t taste 8.5%, let’s put it that way. Light nutty finish, bit sweet, with sweet-dry after. Pleasant. I may have to seek out another set of these Tentation de la Semois series, in case the labels are wrong.
