COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

On tap @ Kasteel Ter Dolen. Hazy yellow ale, white head. Wheat/Weizen-like roma and taste, nicely hopped with a balanced bitterness and citrus fruity lightness: very refreshing. Medium bodied, a bit oily, lively carbonation. Very nice on a afternoon during spring and summer.

Bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2014. Thanks to Kraddel! Pours a slightly hazy light yellow color with a loose, small tan head. The smell is light sweet malt, caramel, licorice and tart fruit. The taste is tart fruit, sweet light malt and licorice. Light in body with active carbonation.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 1/14/2015. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, pear, apple, white grape, honey, biscuit, floral, grass, light clove, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of hop, malt, and fruity/earthy yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, pear, apple, white grape, honey, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, clove, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy herbal bitterness/yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, pear, apple, white grape, honey, biscuit, clove, floral, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of hop, malt, and fruity/earthy yeast ester flavors; with a nice malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medum-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good hoppy Belgian strong pale ale. Good robustness and balance of hop, bready malt, and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.

75 cl. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2014. Courtesy of & thx! to Kraddel. Light golden, white bubbles. Nose is musty, touch herbal, fruity, almond, sweet sugar with some caramel. Bitter yeast taste, herbs, sweetish with white sugar, overripe apple, caramel. High carb. Not bad.

Bouteille: Golden and a bit unclear with a big fluffy white head, citrussy nose, moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied and a bit fizzy; lingering citrussy and pale-malty finish. Good, no doubt, but hardly exciting…
