Alengrin (2124) - BELGIUM - OCT 17, 2014
Blonde abbey-style beer with snow white head and golden blond, hazy robe. Malt sweetness, some fruitiness and yeastiness, unfortunately quite some DMS (cooked cabbage) as well, low hop bitterness in the finish. Too straightforward and ’commercial’, like a would-be Leffe Blonde. Tasted years ago, I hope it has improved since then.

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a golden/yellow color and nice large white head, with a lot of bubbles. The aroma is very fruity, has tones of grass, a little citrus, yeast is noticable and some hops and flowers. The taste is soft and a little sweet, with also a little dryness in the end. Further it’s a little watery taste. The finish is light bitter and watery but yet a little refreshing.

0,33l fles uitgeschonken een goudgele Blonde.met een royale witte kraag, die helaas snel slinkt. De geur en smaak zijn suikerzoet met een beetje gras en een minimaal gistbiterrtje. Anonieme blonde.

From tap at Ter dolen brewery. Color is golden, hazy, full white head. Nose. Malt, yeast, sugar. Malty taste, yeast too. Bitter with a sweet finish, refreshing. Okey average Belgian blonde. Pretty straight forward.

Dit vond ik de slechtste van de Ter Dolen, het bier met de minste smaak in hun assortiment

(had this a good while back after seeing it presented at Tournée Générale, retrieved from notes & old bottle with new Ter Dolen: Limburgs Abdijbier khaki label) 33cl bb08/2013, Geers 2013. Quite reminiscent of a smaller batch Leffe: velvet honey palate, with some pepper making the honey and orchard fruit sweetness digestible, but not appealing. Feels heavier than its abv.

Clear golden yellow with fluffy lacing white foam head, Aroma is strong malty, so is taste. Nothing special in my opinion, just a beer. Not bad, but just. (Velp 201408)
