ditmier (729), Boise, Idaho, USA May 1, 2009 2009 Bottle - Pours murky paly gold with a small white head...aorma is sweet grain and citrus...flavour is crisp, lemon rind, hop bitters, weak grain and a bit of tropical fruits...not exactly sure what it is style-wise, but passable... DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 6, 2008 28-Jul-08 (12-oz bottle: Purchased 21-Jul-08 for $1.66 from liquidsolutions.biz) ESG suggests that this might have a British-influenced flavor, but one sip and such a notion is immediately discarded. ESG a hoppier version of a generic blonde ale. It is decidedly grainy and husky with background flavors of corn, sweet honey and bread. Vaguely flavorful hops are dusty and mildly bitter and seem to accentuate the husky character, both in flavor and mouthfeel. The beer is medium bodied and gently carbonated, but there is a dusty, dry and slightly astringent mouthfeel that builds into the finish. The nose is grainy and honey-sweet but the huskiness is as obtrusive here as in the flavor and mouthfeel. Golden and slightly hazy body, but the bubbly, off-white head barely covers the beer’s surface when poured before fading quickly into oblivion. Too much graininess to keep me interested, and the husky quality is undesirable. Nothing special about this "Extra Special" beer. vulcanmeister (88), La Grande, Oregon, USA Sep 6, 2008 Pours pale gold with a very small quickly receding white head. The aroma is grain and malt. Light body, mild carbonation, and clean tart grapefruit. The bitterness is astringent and lingers on to the finish with a light sweetness that creeps in and is a nice balance with the tartness. MakeItDrinkIt (66), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 4, 2008 Golden hue with a thin white head. The aroma is somewhat fruity - like peaches or nectarines, but quite light. Flavor is initially lightly fruity, more like apricots, than dries out quite nicely. This is a superb (golden ale) ESB - a bit different but quite good. stchloe (403), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 4, 2008 Golden amber color, amber like straw citric taste. Smooth with a hint of hops. BrewDad (2144), Olympia, Washington, USA Jul 31, 2008 12oz Bottle - Bier-One Bottle Shop - Newport, OR

ratman197 (2860), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle poured a hazy gold with a lingering ring of white foam. Aromas of straw, lemon zest and a hint of pepper. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finiush. Flavors of straw, lemon zest and a hint of pepper with a smooth dry lightly bitter finish. Reid (1050), Salem, Oregon, USA Jun 16, 2008 Golden beer with a small white head.
Peppery, spicy hop aromas, some malts.
Falvour is mostly thick sweet malts , backed by peppery hoppiness, curious long lasting mild bitter ness.
Nice on the palate, quite smooth, almost silky.
Overall a nice Golden ale...i dont think this can be considered an "ESB".
