Commercial Description:
Pale copper in color, but big in body and flavor with a heady hop character. The IPA uses spring water and snow melt from high in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Terminal Gravity used over 50% Marris Otter pale ale malt imported from the British Isles for a traditional British flavor. It adds several other malts from the Northwest and Europe. TG IPA has over 2 pounds of hops per barrel, finishing with British Fuggles for that classic aroma.

12 oz. bottle, courtesy Ross. Cloudy amber pour sports a medium white head and very good lace. Aroma is softly spicy and floral with a touch of citrus over a nice grainy base and some notes of honey. Medium body with a richness not usually seen with an IPA. Very smooth, goes down easily. Falvor is nicely balanced between a full caramel sweetness and a light grapefruit bitterness. A lingering dry finish falls right into place. In a world where IPA’s are so ubiquitous, this stands out as an excellent example of a classic IPA. A real pleasure to drink.

Terminal Gravity IPA Bottle. Murky, deep tarnished copper color. White wisp. Citrusy aroma. Grapefruit and oranges with some malt. Malty and bitter. Slightly metallic with lemons, oranges and flowers. Very hop forward with good maltiness. Alcohol flavor is present.

Draft at a Basque restaurant in Boise, ID. Other than the fact that the bartender told me this beer was from San Jose, I really enjoyed it. Good bitter-sweet balance with a more citrus (and maybe just a little bitter chocolate) than pine hop character and enough malt to keep it from being too much of a "hop tea." Malt sweetness may have been a little "flanny," but maybe it was just my imagination getting away with me in the distinctly Iberian setting. Went great with some Basque cheese, cured meats, and shrimp-stuffed red peppers.

Bottle: nice ruddy amber color with a small head. Taste is full of hops, ctirus, floral, sweetness, and a bit tart. Nicely done IPA.

Bottle... NTB Ernesto Festo ’06... Enjoyed this one while watching the rain come down sideways in sheets at about 40 mph. Huge waves pounding the sand. Storm’s a comin’, but it aint here yet! … Lightly hazy, deep golden ale with a large frothy, off-white head. Excellent retention. Black tea, toffee, peppery hops and a splash of grapefruit in the aroma. Malty, fruity flavor leans on the sweet side of balance despite the juicy hops. Medium-bodied and creamy with soft carbonation. Lengthy, mildly tangy, moderately bitter finish. Good English style IPA. A shout goes out to kenb for shipping me the bottle!

Tap at Uber Tavern.

Pours a cloudy cider-amber, with a lovely thick head. The hops are full and pungent, resin and a hint of orange; not much sweetness here but instead a nice full bitterness with a tinge of grapefruit.

Thi s is a good but not quite great IPA.
