Aroma starts with light hops mostly earthy and some citrus and then malt takes over. Odd flavor. A little tart, malty, light hop bitterness on the finish. Short flavor with long bitterness. Thin body. marcus (1853), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2005 This copper ale poured with a modest off-white head, eliciting a strong hop aroma that smelled like bud (no, not that Bud). The flavor was full, with a nice bitter, but mellow, finish. pinkzambia (989), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2005 Updated: Jul 4, 2006On Tap: Well, I had this at Wyatt’s Eatery and Brewhouse (Albany, OR) and the girl said she poured it herself, but it didn’t taste like an IPA at all. Maybe I was still getting rid of the Raging Rhino Red off my tastebuds or it was just too late . . . anyway, I enjoyed it. The hops seemed to be fairly mild in comparison with other IPA’s and it had a coke aftertaste. In my mind, whether it tasted like an IPA or not, it was fine.
Tap at Bitter Creek: Re-rated on July 3, 2006. This time it was much different than I experienced at Wyatt’s. It makes me wonder if the server poured the wrong thing or if they had the tap hooked up to the wrong keg. I have seen that happen before. Anyway, this time it was much more like an IPA. It had a murky copper color with a paper thin off-white head. It showed aromas of sweet citrus, pine, and uprooted dry juniper shrubs with a hard, dry bitter prolonged taste. I could detect the higher alcohol in the flavor as well. There was lots of carbonation that burned the tongue. The body is thick and full and the finish leaves a film of bitterness in the mouth. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 11, 2005 Cloudy gold. Quite malty, fruity and sweet. Hops are pronounced, powdery citrus, grapefruit and pineapple. Nice start, but kind of dies off at the finish, needs some more depth. JK (2949), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

Minimal hop bitterness and lots of fruity sweetness, and this is how I like a IPA. Better than most. badgerben (3596), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

The taste is heavy on wood, both oak and pine. Raw earthiness. Slight hops on the end, but overwhelmingly, it’s wood. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA

Flavor had a real nice bitter kick but not too overwhelming. I’d definitely order this guy again. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA
