raphael (244), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 31, 2007 The aroma comes out subtly, lemon and smoke. caramel. tight tan head on a dark orange body. the hops have a harsh edge, and a powerful mass, still cherry and caramel to provide an opening balance w/ each sip, finishes bitter & dry. But what’s San Diego about it? Angeloregon (1549), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 21, 2007 Nice glowing orange-tawny color with bustling white head. Piny, resinous flavor with a fruity, candied finish. Bitter and yummy! DA (2280), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Nov 4, 2006 Sampled at the Concordia blind taste test. When the winners were revealed I was kinda upset to find out which one this was, I didn’t really enjoy it and I thought I would have, the wonders of blind rating. This IPA was just to green tasting and overwhelmingly bitter. I didn’t get much balance to it, the slight touch of sweetness upfront was quickly taken over by the bitterness throughout. This beer focused more on bitterness then on hop flavor, i’d rather see a bit more floralness in my IPAs. An Amber colored brew with a great head. This was one of the hits of the night. The beer had flavor, color and aroma. Loved the hops throughout the beer. The finish was awesome. This was a good balance of malts and hops and was not ver the top on the hops flavor. Great job TG.
