3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at esbls. Mid brown and hazy. No head. A big fruity malt aroma is aggressive. A really thin feel. An odd flavor. Dark complex fruit with bourbon. Big malts. I’m not a fan.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle, shared by DanielCoor. Hazy red orange amber color. Thin ring of off-white head. No lace really sticks, just a couple dots. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick. Dark fruit notes. Lightly spicy. Some woody tannins, light vanilla whimsey. Not much to it overall, though. Some light notes of oxidization. Tastes sort of "old", but not terribly "old". Moderate bitter taste, light to moderate sweet. Alcohol is well-hidden, not a factor at all, really. OK barley wine, but it hasn’t really aged well. Not atrocious, but not amazing. Dan was pretty disappointed by it (he didn’t want to finish it).

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle in a tasting glass. Pours deep amber with a beige head. Aroma of strong caramel and toffee malts, a little oak and vanilla, and some light bitterness. Flavor the same. Average to smooth texture. A pretty cool barley wine.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bomber courtesy of Homer321, thanks Sean. It pours up with a murky amber body that has thin copper edges and supports a thin light tan head. The aroma offers up a nice mix of sweet prunes and figs to go along with a smooth sweet modest bourbon note and a sliver of vanilla. The taste begins smooth and it quickly gets into sweet prunes, figs, raisins and molasses. It then picks up a modest smooth sweet bourbon note that adds just enough to the experience. Great barrel contact time here. It gets a bit earthy at times into the finish. Nice sipper.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2011 bottle from Brusin Ales. Murky brown pour. Some caramel and fruit. But unfortunately, this bottle has note aged well in a short time for such high ABV. Wet cardboard throughout. Otherwise, it could be a nice barleywine.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Pours a medium dark reddish brown, very still, no head. Aroma woodiness, lacto, Funky, fun. Mealy, sweet, with a good amount of tartness. Warming nowhere to be found. Be warned that the solids at the bottom of the bottle are no good, taste-wise.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Interesting combination. Complex layers that waver between rum barrel, sour nuances and dried fruits. Zero carbonation pour. Layers of prune juice, dried apricot, and sour, dried cherries, intermingle with notes if vanilla, spice and dusty coco. Viscous and full bodied.. Thankfully the sourness keeps it from being thick, sweet and syrupy. Oude Bruin like, though different due to rum barrel nuances and various stone-fruit layers. Also reminiscent of wine/tawny port... 10% alc. is completely integrated and well hidden. Sweet nuances, though seem to finish dry and tart. Elegant lingering flavors of dusty chocolate powder, vanilla and earthy tobacco. Due to fullness and viscosity, I believe it is best enjoyed as a slow sipper. 10% alc sneaks up on you in end. Good stuff... Unique. Would purchase again. Keep in mind, its a sour, not a barley wine.
