"Pretty nice biscuit malt forward barleywine. The 1/3 bourbon barreled blend leaves me wanting a little more barrel presence, though it comes out nicely as it warms. Depending on the bourbon, 50 50 is about perfect. Little hop presence, though there is some back-end bitterness. Overall, pretty nice, though not a standout."

Murky body without any head. Wood, red grapes, raisin, sour, pine and complex. Thick palate, very rich taste in every sip. Characterful, lactic like acidity and delicious malts. I truly like this one. Original and exceptional taste. (Bottle at Au Bon Coin)

Sampled at esbls. Mid brown and hazy. No head. A big fruity malt aroma is aggressive. A really thin feel. An odd flavor. Dark complex fruit with bourbon. Big malts. Iím not a fan.

22oz bottle, shared by DanielCoor. Hazy red orange amber color. Thin ring of off-white head. No lace really sticks, just a couple dots. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick. Dark fruit notes. Lightly spicy. Some woody tannins, light vanilla whimsey. Not much to it overall, though. Some light notes of oxidization. Tastes sort of "old", but not terribly "old". Moderate bitter taste, light to moderate sweet. Alcohol is well-hidden, not a factor at all, really. OK barley wine, but it hasnít really aged well. Not atrocious, but not amazing. Dan was pretty disappointed by it (he didnít want to finish it).

22oz bottle in a tasting glass. Pours deep amber with a beige head. Aroma of strong caramel and toffee malts, a little oak and vanilla, and some light bitterness. Flavor the same. Average to smooth texture. A pretty cool barley wine.

22oz bomber courtesy of Homer321, thanks Sean. It pours up with a murky amber body that has thin copper edges and supports a thin light tan head. The aroma offers up a nice mix of sweet prunes and figs to go along with a smooth sweet modest bourbon note and a sliver of vanilla. The taste begins smooth and it quickly gets into sweet prunes, figs, raisins and molasses. It then picks up a modest smooth sweet bourbon note that adds just enough to the experience. Great barrel contact time here. It gets a bit earthy at times into the finish. Nice sipper.

2011 bottle from Brusin Ales. Murky brown pour. Some caramel and fruit. But unfortunately, this bottle has note aged well in a short time for such high ABV. Wet cardboard throughout. Otherwise, it could be a nice barleywine.

11/20/2012. From bottle. Brownish color with a tan head. Malty aromas with the bourbon showing well. A little sweet at first with oak and dried fruit. Warm alcohol towards the end.

2011 Bomber from Beer Run. Pours a hazy brown color with a thin tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of rye, toffee, earth, bourbon. mild toast. The taste is caramel, strong rye, toffee, bitter citrus. Medium bodied, boozy, low carbonation.
