Pours a dark copper with a medium tan head. Boozy vanilla aroma. Sweet lemony English style barley wine on the front. Finish with a bit of hoppy rye ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours slightly hazy copper color with khaki head. Aromas of caramel, vanilla, oak and rye. Sweet caramel and rye flavors with some vanilla and oak and a hint of alcohol. Minimal bourbon flavor. Medium to full body with soft carbonation.

Pours cloudy & dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is carob, molasses & malts. Taste is sweet carob (almost chocolate) and thick malts. It’s pretty straightforward and almost dessert-like with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Great barleywine!

Growler from Exhibit A(le). Dark brown pour with a small, tan head. The aroma is molasses, oak, vanilla, rye bread, and hop spiciness. Very sweet and some savory spiciness. Heavy body, sticky, and syrupy. Overall, this is a very delicious, heavy, and surprisingly easy-drinking beer.

(bottle) Barley Ryne. Murky reddish brown body with no head. Aroma reminds me of a sour ale (tart cherry and sour apple), other dark fruit, light to moderate wood, sweet. Medium body, very oily. Very tart, sour flavo and sweetr; cherry, apple, figs, raisin; light wood.

Bottle - 2011 Barley Ryne. Copper pour with a short, bubbly tan head. Aroma is strong oak notes, soft vanilla, dark fruit, dark bread, caramel, and hints of brown sugar. Taste is big oak, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, dark fruit notes, dark bread, toasted malt, soft booze, light toasted coconut and toffee notes. Body is medium-full and the carbonation is light leading to a pleasant slickness and mild alcoholic warmth. Ends with more caramel, toffee notes, dark bread, dark fruit notes, oak, vanilla, and brown sugar notes. Damn tasty!

Murky brown color. Aroma is slightly wild yeast with a bit of cherry to it. Flavor is deep red fruit, some vanilla, and wood from the ageing. Finish is a little boozy with some wood and grit on the back of the palate. Pretty good drink and it all comes together nicely.

bomber. Murky brown w/ oak nose. Starts earthy and woodsy; finishes bourbon. Heavy malts. Bought on impulse, I don’t usually care for bourbon aged beers. No change here.

On tap at Rooster’s Beak. Dark red pour with a thick tan top. Scent is malty, woody with a note of bourbon. Taste is wood, caramel, rye and some spicy hops. Good stuff!

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small-to-moderate white head. Nose has notes of wine and bourbon in it, just like it says. Remarkably easy drink for the alcohol content and the aging. Very interesting.
