Foil wrapped, 22oz bottle. Vintage 2011. Toasted brown color, thin ring. Aroma of barley tea made of loads of toasted barley. Sweet bourbon, toffee, raisin, hints of chocolate, honey & caramel. It just smells like fucking candy. Tastes of toffee, toasted grains, oak, almond cookies, brown sugar, dark fruits. More of an English-style BarleyWine. Very soft, extrememly smooth. There is NO alcohol in this bottle at all. Perfectly balanced. (3558)

Bomber. Poured clear medium garnet with a smoked beige head. The aroma picked up aged caramel, molasses, and vanilla, with tart bourbon and spicy rye cutting through.. lots of lovely barrel on the back of the nose. The flavor opened with tangy bourbon and oak, with warm, creamy vanilla and caramel following.. spicy rye and sweet bourbon enveloped the decadent middle.. long, memorable finish.. loved it! Syrupy and thick on the palate with low-ish carbonation.. coating.. this was some excellent stuff!

Malty aromas in the toffee and caramel range. Deep brown with no head. Balanced towards the sweet end. Full bodied and warming with a balanced finish.

Pours cloudy & dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is carob, molasses & malts. Taste is sweet carob (almost chocolate) and thick malts. It’s pretty straightforward and almost dessert-like with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Great barleywine!

2011 bomber. Pours deep copper with thin white head. Armoma of bourbon, raisin and caramel. Silky mouthfeel with no carbonation to speak of. Flavor has sour cherry notes up front followed by heavy malt, vanilla and bourbon. Well balanced and very drinkable despite its 10% ABV.

Pours a dark copper with a medium tan head. Boozy vanilla aroma. Sweet lemony English style barley wine on the front. Finish with a bit of hoppy rye ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle for 7.50 (I think). Pours a murky red/brown with a decent off-white head. Some decent initial lacing. Aroma was of mild, not over the top bourbon, oak and caramel maltiness. Nice. Taste of bourbon, vanilla, some dark fruit splashes, oak, caramel. Full-bodied with a creamy smooth finish. I dig it b/c the label says only 1/3 matured in bourbon barrels. This lends to a known but more subtle approach to barrel-aging. This actually is one of finest beers Terrapin has put out. Quite lovely.

The mahogany colored body was clear, and the head was small. The beer had the classic barleywine look down pat. The smell was very fruity, with figs, raisins, and cherries, with a drizzling of brown sugar. The taste was quite sweet and showcased the wood aging quite well. There were clear oak notes, vanilla, toffee, cherries, and some orange zest. Each sip felt quite delicate for such a big beer. The body may be faulted a little for being too thin, but it added to the mellow qualities that this beer. Easy to drink for the style.

Bomber courtesy of CraftBeerDesign (thanks Geoff!) poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of toffee, tobacco, rye, light bourbon and light oak. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of oak, toffee, rye, light fruittiness and light bourbon with a smooth lingering oak finish. Flat out kicks the Swiss versions ass!

Bottle - 2011 Barley Ryne. Copper pour with a short, bubbly tan head. Aroma is strong oak notes, soft vanilla, dark fruit, dark bread, caramel, and hints of brown sugar. Taste is big oak, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, dark fruit notes, dark bread, toasted malt, soft booze, light toasted coconut and toffee notes. Body is medium-full and the carbonation is light leading to a pleasant slickness and mild alcoholic warmth. Ends with more caramel, toffee notes, dark bread, dark fruit notes, oak, vanilla, and brown sugar notes. Damn tasty!
