COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This mammoth imperial red ale leads with a tantalizing hop aroma that is quickly complemented by an enormous malt backbone. Finishing with a multitude of hoppy goodness, this “Monster Beer” is truly not for the faint at heart.

Gorgeous red hued coloring. Fragrant hops - cascade is obvious - with citrus and pine overtones. The use of Simcoe and Warrior hops - balanced with a strong malt presence - reminds me of DFH’s 90 minute. Definitely one of the better IIPA’s.

Reviewed from notes. Rcvd from my sister. This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a nice looking bronzed orange color with a decent one and a half finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing that slid into the beer. The aroma had some grapefruity/citrusy notes that lent a decent amount of pine entering in as it warmed. The taste had a nice sweet citrusy aspect running over my taste buds. On the palate, this one sat at/about a nice light to medium in body. It proved itself to be somewhat sessionable. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but not overbearing. Overall, I say this was a decent DIPA, its nothing to go bonkers about but worthy of having again.

Growler at home. Pours red with a mild head, I think the growler leaked. Aroma is caramel and toffee and piney and citrusy hops. Flavor is malt forward with the hops somewhat muted. I like it.

Pours a reddish brown with a creamy tan head. Medium amounts of lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel, hops (citrus). Taste is initially a touch sweet, then a touch if bitterness, then a smooth round malty finish. Excellent with a good burger.

Vintage10AA Dark brownish red with flecks of yeast cycling around in the ale with three fingers of persistent caramel foam. Strong sheet of lace. Smells good and malty, some toffee, tea and hints of mushrooms. Also smelling some brown sugar. Nice malty, sweet ale with some nougat tones and some nice white cake flavor. Nothing particularly complex, but the yeast seems to add a nice nutty element and this one is dangerously drinkable. Wish there were some spicy bittering from hops, but hey, can’t always have it all. Decent enough brew. I like the malt profile on this beer, but I like a little more hop character in my Red/Impy reds. Serving type: bottle 01-02-2012

Dark cloudy blood orange pour with well laced white head. Aroma is sweet with malt and some pine. Flavor is strong hops & pine, moderate alcohol presence and heavy malt. Finish is strong but balanced malt and hop.

Sweet, hoppy, and rich. Always look forward to this every year. Very good fresh, and holds up well in the cellar for a year.
