4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle - thanks to EricTeusink! First lets start with the wax. I get what they are going for, but really?? Was that pain festival necessary? As for the beer itself, pours opaque black with a small dark brown head that dissipates quickly with decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasty, dark chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla. Flavor is quite sweet, medium bitter, strong cinnamon and vanilla notes, dark chocolate. Medium full body, creamy mouthfeel. OK, I can see why this could be taken as a bit gimmicky, and why the "I hate Dark Lord" crowd would rain shit on this as well, but I thoroughly enjoyed this beer, from first sip to last.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted on 2/7/14 from a capped 650mL bomber bottle at the Friday night tasting at RBWG Asheville, thanks to TheBeerSommelier for sharing. Pours oily dark brown with an average brown head that leaves average lace. The nose is dark chocolate and coffee with frosted cinnamon roll. The flavor is pretty much the same, with the sweet frosted cinnamon roll up front, and all of the cinnamon spice, coffee and dark chocolate bitterness on the back. The body is full with average carbonation and a long bitter coffee and spicy cinnamon, with a hint of vanilla finish.

On tap at Caliente. Pours black with a thin dark tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee, roasted nuts, roasted malt, dark chocolate. Flavor of cinnamon, peppers, chocolate malt, roasted malt. Excellent cinnamon presence- overall reminds me of Hunahpus. Delicious!

On tap at Caliente's. Pours a dark brown to black with a medium brown head. Aroma of slight coffee and cinnamon. The cinnamon comes through more in the flavor. Really well incorporated flavors. Thick mouthfeel with a medium fine carbonation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Cinnamon and coffee aromas. Dark roasted malt, bitter chocolate, cinnamon, and muted expresso notes. Somewhat bitter with a hint of tanginess, perhaps from the coffee. Decent body and mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: MAR 19, 2014 great beer, tons of flavors, rich flavors, sweetness and lots of cinnamon flavors, good but not in large quantities. Very sweet, cloying. Tastes a lot like eating cinnamon rolls, which are cloying. So i guess it all works out.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
February 21, 2014 - bottle via trade. Thought I entered this rating in, but noticed it missing this morning, weird. Nice cinnamon and coffee aroma. The taste had plenty of cinnamon, the coffee was there as well though didn’t seem to be a rich coffee, but also a hint of metal like some of the other Terrapin beers of the night. Wonder if something in the water they use. The finish was a bit dry and bitter for me. Had the regular side by side and preferred that over the cinnamon slightly, primarily due to the cleaner finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at RBWG in the Downtown Dump. Pours a deep brown with a small tan head. Notes of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, cinammon, brown sugar, and a hint of coffee. Not as much as advertised. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry, sweet mouthfeel. Better than the white chocolate one.
