Commercial Description:
“With its golden hue and gentle complexity, the Terrapin Golden Ale brings refreshing to a whole new level. Its combination of flavor, smoothness and drinkability is difficult to find in most craft beers. Sometimes even hopheads like us want nothing more than to enjoy a beer that is crisp, smooth and refreshing. That is why we created the perfect session beer - the Terrapin Golden Ale.”

This beer looked great, smelled great and was even refreshingly lingering, but it still didn’t live up to my expectations. Maybe the cream ale style is just too mild for my tastes. Still a very thirst-quenching beer that was MILES ahead of the other fair (Bud Light, Miller) at Rocky Mountain Pizza.

Clearly a session, Summer style beer IMO, one that would be best served up with a round of ribs, a shimmering blue pool and about 95 degrees. Instead, it’s steel gray skies, February, cold and having a grilled cheese sammy. Ah well. The beer pours out a medium amber color, clear with a 1/2" off-white head that melts pretty quickly. Little to no carbonation bubbles present. Aroma starts out bready/yeasty with a light malty/fruity note. Flavor has some bready, peppery, with some wet paper-like flavor. Finish was a little dull, with a lingering mineral like flavor.

Bottle from Total Wine & More (Ft. Myers, FL) - Poured a small very fizzy white head with poor retention, one ring of lacing, hazy, fast rising carbonation, and a straw hue. The aroma is malty, hoppy, fruity, and semi-sweet. The flavor is semi-sweet, hoppy, fruity, tastes thin and has a sour taste as the beer warms. The mouthfeel is tingly and this is a light bodied beer. A very easy to drink beer due to the thin texture. A decent session beer and also makes for a decent warm weather thirst quenching beer. A beer I would drink again.

bottle, pours gold with a tall frothy white head. Strong sweet corn aroma with a sour hop note. Nice sweet pale malt and orange flavor with a nice lingering finish of malt and creamy oats. This is what a session beer is all about.

A straw colored and bland beer. The white head leaves come nice lacing around the glass. The nose is slightly creamy with a touch of hops and biscuity malt. The body is rather light, with some flavors of cream, biscuits, light hops, earth and wood. The finish is a little sour and unpleasant. There really isn’t much to this beer at all.

There is a light haze to this sandy coloured beer. Aromas most reminiscent of honey on toast. Loads of honey in the mouth too with a reasonable toastiness and crispness. Not much of a bite but it is delicious (though a little over carbonated).

10th May 2008. Low carbonation. A pleasant maltiness, not overly hopped. Nice on a hot day!

Bottle. Translucent pale gold body with a generous white, effervescent head. Aroma is predominantly bread and butter, undertones of bubblegum, apricot and citrus notes, subtle hints toward maltiness, and a floral estery finish. Flavor is bready, buttery around the sides, peppery, slightly fruity, mellow hints of orange zest permeate the light body, and generally mellifluous. Not bad at all but not my taste either for a session. Could make an interesting brew with a little more gravity.

This beer was just terrible. Had it in a mixed 12 pack labeled ’all the hits’. This one is a sure miss. I’m sure the rest will be better....they couldn’t get any worse.
