4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Comes out of the tap looking a lot like a well-poured Guinness - a deep, warm sable with a thick, fine-bubbled tan head that leaves heavy lacing. Robust aroma has notes of quality coffee and caramel with hints of semi-sweet chocolate and horehound. Delightful flavor is very Guinness-like, roast malt and coffee notes plus subtle tones of caramel, molasses, horehound and licorice. Velvety smooth texture has good body and fizz - not quite as good as Guinness, but still firm. Well done, Terrapin.

Nitro at Max’s Taphouse. Pours clear black with a large, creamy light tan head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is chocolate and roast malt with earthy hops and leather yeast. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and bitterness, faint fruity esters and a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Growler from Crafty Draught. Pours black with a medium, creamy, light brown head and great lacing. Coffee and roasted malts up front, with some resin and black bread. The flavor is sweet and roasty, with a sweet and malty finish. The further into the beer you get, the more malty it gets. Light body, watery, and thin, with a little carbonation. Overall, this is a promising stout and looks great, but the flavor is too bland, and the body is too weak. Better than a certain other Irish stout, though...
