5/23/13. On tap at The Distillery. Black pour with ruby edges under a fluffy khaki head. Dry, meaty aroma with some salt and light acidity. Smokey, meaty flavor as well with roasted malts, dryness, and light coffee. Not bad.

Nitro, at Bearden Beer Market. Man Nitro beers always look great, donít they? Pitch black, creamy beige head...Nice stuff. After that it is a perfectly serviceable Irish style stout. No big flaws, plenty of coffee and ashy flavors, and a dry finish.

16 ounce pint - $5.75 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Very dark brown, near black body with two inches of firm, matte beige foam, leaving coating lace on the descent.

Smell: Hidden beneath a cap of dense foam, meager whispers of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits, and hops struggle to escape.

Taste: With my mouth choked by foam wrought from the nitro-tap, I get little more than hints of roasted grain, faint dark chocolate, and leafy, lightly bitter hops.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Creamy, nitro-infused mouthfeel.

Overall: With each passing year, I grow more disillusioned with the whole nitro-tap gimmick.

On tap at Tylerís, Raleigh. Dark brown pour with ruby highlights, soapy carbonation gives it a slightly thinnish look. Soft roasted malts in the nose, hints of Tootsie roll, and slight yeastiness. Mouthfeel is definitely thin, and itís too bad this wasnít the cask pour that Iíve seen from other reviews. Lightly nutty flavors along with roasts, dry (but not especially lengthy) finish. Pretty underwhelming.

Draught at Brick Store. Creamy chocolate stout. Dark without being roasty. A basic Irish stout. Nice.
