22oz bottle $13 at Beverage World in Ft. Oglethorp, Georgia. Alas there was no Golden ticket in my box. Dark brown color, looks like an old ale to me. Smells boozy, caramel, boozy, malty. Tastes almost exactly like North Coast Old Stock Ale in my opinion which is a very good thing. Booze in the taste, raisin, caramel, some toffee. The booziness held back drinkability a bit but this was a very good effort from Terrapin and I like the fund-raising aspect a lot.

Great! The nose is very sweet with notes of caramel, vanilla, licorice, and maybe just a touch of butter. The beer is dark brown with a small tan head. The taste is again very sweet with malty flavors, brown sugar and caramel, vanilla, and a little licorice spice in the back. The beer is full bodied, a little oily, but finishes with a nice dry bitterness for such a sweet beer. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Bottle @ SF. Looks like murky iron water. For some reason it smells chocolaty and lemony. Tastes sweet and a little bitter. L light carbonation.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel malt, toffee, dry fruit and some alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, dry fruit, brown sugar and warming alcohol. Smooth and moderate bitter, quite true to style. Fine body and the aftertaste are smooth with a pleasant hint of oxidation.

Smell is pretty damn nice. Very sweet. Caramel, Toffee, dark fruits, molasses, brown sugar and a whiff of alcohol. I was pretty hyped to try it.
Ugh there is something off about the taste on first sip. It was off. But I let it warm up a bit. Ahh there we go. Totally different beer. Deep and complex. Just a lovely mixture of stuff here. Fruity, sweet. Nice amount of toffee and caramel. Dark fruits round out the taste. I’d say this could use a little aging possibly to bring the alcohol down a bit but right now it’s drinking just fine.
Mouthfeel is nice. Slick and syrupy. Coats the mouth and throat. Goes down just very very nice.
In the end this was a winner for me. I would of loved to get another bottle to age and see where it went. But right now it’s drinking very very nice. A winner from Terrapin and something I’d like to see them bring back down the road.

Bottle #4470/4884
Tasted in November 2011 from a capped bomber bottle, thanks to CurtisMacArthur. Pours cloudy dark brown with a thin tan head that leaves a bubbly collar of lace. The nose is malty with caramel, burnt toffee, and a perfumed dark fruit aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet brown sugar, caramel, toffee, a lightly bitter burnt note, and some underlying dark fruit. The body is full and oily with average carbonation and a long caramel, burnt bitter, and dark fruit finish.
