COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
ďWith its golden hue and gentle complexity, the Terrapin Golden Ale brings refreshing to a whole new level. Its combination of flavor, smoothness and drinkability is difficult to find in most craft beers. Sometimes even hopheads like us want nothing more than to enjoy a beer that is crisp, smooth and refreshing. That is why we created the perfect session beer - the Terrapin Golden Ale.Ē

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a hazy light orange with barely a quarter finger head. Just a little head retention and no lacing. Corn is quite prominent in the aroma along with a very slight bit of DMS. Some wet grass and hay comes through. A little apple and orange up front in the flavor followed by corn and a little bit of cooked vegetables. Mild hop bitterness with a little bit of grass. Drying mouthfeel that is very refreshing. Overall, a pretty middle of the road beer but good for the style. One I would pick up on occasion if it were available near me.

Draft at lucky lab. Pours clear yellow with a small white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma Is kind of lemon and bread. Taste is sweet lager with some residual sweetness.

Not the best cream ale, though, in my opinion, this is a difficult style to make effectively. Palate is sticky and the body is pretty full. Golden color with bready and yeasty aroma, slightly sweet citrus flavor.

Pours a very light yellow/straw color with about a finger of foamy white head. Aroma is somewhat stale and yeasty. Flavor is not much better but is bearable. Not a great beer but if itís all I got then Ill take it.

Sampled from the tap at 5 Seasons Prado. Pours a clear yellowish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma seems a bit thin but does have a note of sweet grain and hint of hay. Flavor starts slightly sweet but grows to have sweet notes of grain and corn.

On draught at the Capital Room- Athens, GA. Pours yellowish gold color with lasting fine bubble white head and lace. Light body with slightly effervescent mouth feel. Early hop bitterness matched to mellow hop flavor. Clean light maltiness. A nice light sumer beer for Georgiaís killer summers.

Draft. Terrapinís first brew and still hanging around. Poured a clear gold/amber color with a two finger white head. Aroma of citrus and malt. Flavor was malty with a slight bitter finish. Eh

Originally reviewed: 8/17/08. Surprised to find a bottle of this still on the shelf at Bestway in Greensboro. Pours a cloudy orange-gold with just a ring of head on the top. No lacing. Slightly cloudy. Smells of honey-kissed breads, yeast, apples, and flowers. Mouthfeel is a little too spritzy for my liking. Like a soda. Flavors are of pear, apples, Belgian yeast, and finishes very spicy. The Belgian in this beer abounds. I was not expecting that. This is really isnít what I was expecting at all. Itís boozy, itís spicy, and itís bubbly. Different.
