COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
ďWith its golden hue and gentle complexity, the Terrapin Golden Ale brings refreshing to a whole new level. Its combination of flavor, smoothness and drinkability is difficult to find in most craft beers. Sometimes even hopheads like us want nothing more than to enjoy a beer that is crisp, smooth and refreshing. That is why we created the perfect session beer - the Terrapin Golden Ale.Ē

Originally reviewed: 8/17/08. Surprised to find a bottle of this still on the shelf at Bestway in Greensboro. Pours a cloudy orange-gold with just a ring of head on the top. No lacing. Slightly cloudy. Smells of honey-kissed breads, yeast, apples, and flowers. Mouthfeel is a little too spritzy for my liking. Like a soda. Flavors are of pear, apples, Belgian yeast, and finishes very spicy. The Belgian in this beer abounds. I was not expecting that. This is really isnít what I was expecting at all. Itís boozy, itís spicy, and itís bubbly. Different.

Translucent gold with a dense white head. Medium body with some clingy oily adjunct character and medium-high carbonation.

Aroma: adjunct grain, pale malt, german hops.

Taste: adjunct grain, pale malt, german hops, and a metallic minerality.

Eh. The nose is hay a little corn/grain and very subtle floral hops. The beer is golden, kind of hazy, with a small white head. The taste is sweet with some grain and just a touch of hops. The beer is very smooth and crisp.

Pretty bad overall. I canít believe they have not replaced this with anything else. A well made lager would fit this beers spot and be much better. Banana notes, reminiscent of a hefe.

12 oz bottle to shaker. Pours golden with thin white head. Weak grain and hay. Pretty plain, except has a slight metal after taste. First and last six of this.

12 oz pour with a golden color with a medium white head. Aromas of hay and not much else. A basic hot weather beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a light gold color with a thin off-white head that disappears quickly and leaves no lacing. The aroma is caramel, apples, apricots, and oats. The flavor is crisp fructose sweetness, with a smooth, faint bitter finish. The palate is light, very astringent and acidic, and sticky. Overall, very drinkable and tasty, but the palate is unpleasant.
