At liberty taproom in myrtle beach. DRAFT! Dry malty aroma. Thin head that coats the glass. Spicy hop flavor that builds to a orange middle slight lingering IPA

Poured a clear copper color with a medium soapy head. Aroma is floral, pine, grass, caramel, and a hint of pepper. Taste is a lot of floral hops that rounds out with a bit of malt sweetness and a bitter finish. Pretty tasty.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle to glass. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber color with a thin off-white head. Aroma is a light floral fruity hoppiness with a moderate caramel malt sweetness. Flavor is a nice fruity sweet bitterness, with a lingering fruit hop character in the finish. Light in body and very drinkable, especially for 7.3%. Solid IPA.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy pour, on the dark orange side. Gentle pour resulted in little head. Bready malt and dank piney hops in the nose. First impression is heavy carbonation and alcohol. Itís quite hoppy and significantly bitter, but for some reason itís malt flavors that stand out. The extensive list of hops used may explain why the overall hop profile is a bit mussels and I get a nice balance between dryer, grainy malts and some more candy-like crystal. Thereís a nice soapy astringency that brings in the bitterness and rescues this from the possibility of being too malty. It certainly fits the style, and itís good, but itís not what I think of when reaching for an IPA.

3.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a bright orange with little noticeable head that settles into a thin cap. Also not much lacing.
Smells of good citrus notes with a little bit of bready malt to back it up.
Taste doesnít live up to the smell. The wonderful citrus/grapefruit aroma is nowhere to be found in the taste. Very little hop bite at all up front, just a fair amount of grainy sometimes caramel malt. It finishes with a piney slightly astringent finish.
Mouthfeel is a bit thick and sappy but not overly so.
Maybe Iím just not a fan of Terrapin beers. For something called Hopsecutioner this was definitely hoppy, but more toward the balanced side than the majority of IPAís. Even without the branding disappointment, thereís not a ton of complex or overly great flavor notes out of this one. Itís not awful and definitely drinkable, but itís run of the mill as far as IPAís.

Bottle. Poured an clear copper-amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma was some nice floral hop notes, citrus in there, touch of grapefruits with a nice malt backing to it. Flavor was grapefruit, hop notes, sweetness. Touch of dry resin character in here too. Pretty drinkable, though the abv prevents it from being truly sessionable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
9/09/2013: Terrapin Hopsecutioner India Pale Ale... Aroma: Honey malt (seems to be a Terrapin trademark), weak toffee, spicy hops. Appearance: Cloludy, golden orange color with a thin, frothy, off-white head. Flavor: Tempered sweet malts with a honey tinge; herbal, sweet citrus peel (but not obvious), weak pine hopes; finishes well - bittersweet with toffee malt and spicy, herbal hops. Palate: Medium-bodied; thinner than expected; clean and smooth overall. Overall: Quite good, but Terrapin Rye2 is still WAY better! 12 fl. oz. bottles (ALC./VOL. 7.3%; Best by JAN 14) shared by Rob. Rating #666 for this beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured into an IPA glass. Lots of floral and citrusy hops on the nose. Itís pretty hazy for an IPA, an orange color with a fluffy, white head. Good citrus flavor thatís bona fide hoppy, but never too much. Itís a very well-balanced IPA in that it doesnít try to feature one particular hop profile and itís certainly not sweet the way that high-IBU IPAís can sometimes be. Another hit from Terrapin!

4.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Had off tap at.wob...holy hoppy! & in a nicely balanced way. Beautiful looking cloudy orange and lasting head. Hops are perfectly balanced in this brew! Slightly bitter and citrusy. Not overly hoppy in my opinion. Full body throughout. Awesome brew!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours an apricot color. The head is a fluffy one finger off-white shade. All in all, the looks are typical for the style: frothy head, okay retention, and plenty of lacing left behind.
S: Aromatically, hops do jump out from the glass - mainly the floral, lemony variety. Sourdough bread seems to make an appearance, too. Iíve grown to point where I can smell Centennial hops from a mile away, and this brewís got íem.
T: Flavor-wise, itís sweeter than what the aroma let on. I was waiting for the bitterness to prick the tongue...and instead I got a sweet, caramel forward brew where the hops are only there to balance instead of being showcased. Late in the aftertaste, some floral and spicy hop notes do appear. Aside from the typical caramel and toffee notes, itís also a bit earthy.
M: Itís a rather clean brew, which at least helps quash some of the sweetness well. It glides down the tongue with a crisp bite, too Iíd almost call it thirst quenching...no, I will call it thirst quenching. Not dry by any stretch, but it does a good job of going down easily anyways. The sweet finish doesnít bother me at all.
O: Iíll give it one thing - itís drinkable. Very drinkable, even for a 7.3% IPA. It just doesnít have the most interesting flavor is all. If I had bought a 6 pack of this (which I didnít) I wouldnít have any trouble killing it.
