COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Terrapin Hop Karma Brown IPA is a head on collision between a hoppy west coast India Pale Ale and a malty, complex brown ale. Brewed with 5 varieties of hops and 7 different malts, this hybrid style represents the best of both worlds. PEACE, LOVE and HOPPINESS

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a average tan head. Malty aroma with pine, roasted malts and caramel. Flavor of roasted malts, pine, mild citrus, caramel and had some nuttiness with a long and bitter finish.

Pours a cola brown with a two-finger root beer head. Nicely balanced hop and malt nose. Slick texture with some scrub on the rear of the palate. Very well-balanced flavors of sweet malt and bitter, yet clean hop. Quaffable.

Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade. Consumed 3/13/13. The pour has a dark brown color and leaves the same colored body slightly clear around the edges, two finger off white foamy head gently recedes and leaves some spider web foamy lacing in the wake. The smell has the hops up front, subdued malts trying to get through but mostly stays underneath the hops, gets slightly nutty as it warms The taste is bittersweet through a nice combination of hops to malts, slightly nutty. The palate is about medium on the body, comes across sessionable, and has a slightly sweet aftertaste and a sticky finish. Overal, whether an American Brown Ale or an American IPA, I like it for the most part, good example of a hybrid between the two that I would have again.

Tap at capones, pours brown with medium off white head along with impressive lacing. Aromas and flavor of nutty malt, milk cocoa, pine, toffee, and light rust. I remember this being better a couple years ago, fresher and hoppier when that batch hit. Lighter body. Pretty solid.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a large tan head that retains pretty well and leaves a lot of lacing. Clear with some nice amber hues. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, caramel, chocolate, hints of coffee and vanilla. Taste is bready malts, mild citrusy hops, chocolate hints. Dry with a slight bitterness. Long finish of malts and caramel with hop resin. Medium bodied, creamy and oily texture, average carbonation. Excellent beer! Very well done Black IPA.

12oz bottle. Pours with a small tan head. Roast and chocolate aromas. Very little hop aroma. Chocolate roasty and some hop bitterness in the flavor. Not much hop aroma and flavor for an IPA. definitely not a black IPA much more of an American Brown Ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer pours really well, has a great deep reddish brown color with a nice thick creamy off white head and great lacing, well carbontated too. The smell is amazing with a great blend of several malts and hops blended well and a mild nutty smell lingering. The taste is good with a great blend of several malts and a decent hoppiness, citrus flaovr that follows but is not overpowering. The mouthfell is mellow with a mild citrusy flavor and a malty carmel taste lingering. Overall, a great beer that I am upset that they don’t distribute in my area. A great blend of two different styles that blended well together. My second beer from this brewer and they both were amazing, highly recommend.

Pours an opaque brown with a slight tan head. Leaves a decent amount of lacing down the glass. Smells of mostly chocolate malt. Taste is pretty similar. Lots of chocolate notes with some hop presence although not quite as much as expected from the name. Additional chocolate bitterness is also detectable. Taste every slightly favors malt but is not overly sweet. Mouthfeel is good and creamy with a good level of carbonation. Pretty decent beer. Better than the Big Hoppy Monster. Delivers a good hop presence while still staying true to the flavor profile of a brown.
