Bottle. The pour is nice and dark with a thin rim around the glass. The aroma is chocolate and barley. The taste is full of chocolate. A nice easy to drink milk stout with good flavor.

I poured a 12oz bottle into a snifter. There was no freshness date, though itís clearly marked as a 2012 [winter] seasonal leading me to believe it was 4-6 months old.

Appearance: Dark black hue, completely opaque, no visible carbonation. Forms a small, light brown, foamy head which almost completely disappears and leaves no lacing.

Smell: Similar to a chocolate candy bar and a hint of dairy.

Taste: Terrapin Moo-Hoo Chocolate Milk Stout purports to be a classier chocolate stout using cocoa nibs and shells and not just chocolate flavoring. And while itís indeed a good beer, it doesnít seem to be anywhere near gourmet quality. If you like chocolate candy bar flavor youíll get it in this beer.

A light sweetness up front followed by a strong surge of familiar supermarket chocolate candy plus an underlying bitterness. A short, dry, bitterness at the crest of the palate followed by a slight tang or sourness (due to an old bottle?). Thereís additional chocolate flavor on the finish, but itís quite mild with almost no aftertaste, unfortunately. So while this beer may not be a mind-blower, itís definitely tasty while in the mouth and fun to drink.

Drinkability: Sometimes chocolate stouts can be so rich theyíre sippers, but Terrapin Moo-Hoo Chocolate Milk Stout is on the milder side so itís easy to drink quickly (maybe a little too quickly). The mouthfeel is on the thinner end, mostly tepid, and is really easy going down. At 6% ABV it seems a bit inefficient - like it doesnít take full advantage of its strength. Though that makes it much easier to quaff and all the more tempting to drink multiple servings.

Dark brown in pour with not much head. Strong cocoa aroma. Chocolate flavor is strong with a slightly coffee after taste.

12 ounce bottle from timfoolery, medium dissapearing head, chocolate taste, but not much sweetness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with small dark tan head and diminishes to a ring rather quickly. Aroma is dark chocolate vanilla and a strange chlorine. Tastes very astringent with faint note of chocolate and vanilla extract. Beer had a great mouthfeel but flavor seemed to be rather lacking...its no wake ín back...

2012 bottle to narrow chalice. Mahogany wood color with edges that look like vanilla extract when light shines through. Very short-lived beige head that reduces to a narrow collar with a few larger bubbles here and there. Smells like dark chcolate cake. Taste is bakers chocolate, vanilla bean, and marshmallow but not nearly as sweet as it sounds. Thereís a good amount of bittering hops and dark roast to provide balance. Thin in the mouth and a pretty clean finish. Would love to try an imperial version to get more mouthfeel.

Total Wine, Fairfax 12oz: Pours black with a beiege head. Aroma is chocolate, hot chocolate, and nice fresh coffee. Taste is slightly sweet. Ridiculously chuggable. Some nice aftertaste. Lots of chocolate. Excellent.

Bruceís Birthday Bash at the Craft Clerkenwell. Cheers to Peter for this one. Opaque black - brown beer, little pale tan head. Light palate, semi dry. Powdery dark chocolate. Semi sweet. Light dry finish. Not bad if a bit one dimensional.

Pours a dark chocolate brown with a finger of head that quickly dissipates but leaves a trace of lacing behind on the glass. There are some mild roasted malt notes in the nose. The roasted malt flavor is present, but relatively light. This offering is not as creamy or sweet as most milk stouts, but the distinct taste of cocoa more than makes up for the lack of sweet notes. There is a bitter finish to this that is slightly out of style as well. Very good, and certainly not the adult version of Yoo-Hoo as some have described it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Light chocolate, and somewhat stronger coffee nose. Pitch black, little head. Nice sweet chocolate and vanilla notes in initial / levels out in mid palate and gets a bit of coconut / very creamy finish (oats?). Medium body. Very tasty. Kind of a kiddy sort of stout. But I like it better than Wake íní Bake.
