My Bottom Line:
Coffee, chocolate and vanilla merge in this lean and otherwise roasty Sweet Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the blackness.
-Carbonation is frothy and the body slender, increasing drinkability.
-Roastiness mostly appears in the second half, building most of the finish.
-Lactose and general sweetness are there, but the body is easily accessible, never heavy.

Bottle.

Bottle thanks to beernads. Deep brown/black pour. Aroma of chocolate milk shake with extra Hershey’s syrup/hot fudge added. Flavor is lightly roasted malt with chocolate syrup and faint vanilla sweetness. Lingering Bakers chocolate and mild roasted malt. Some lactose mouthfeel, but thinner than expected. An absolutely wonderful beer.

Sampled this close enough to Odell’s Lugene that it sorely disappointed. We’re not talking Godiva or Ghirardelli here...more like cheap chocolate bunnies at Easter! Chalky. Meh.

Dark color, and dark head. Smells of delicious chocolate. Smooth drink. Not a thick beer. Little chocolate aftertaste. I guess the theme here is this is a chocolate beer. It is very good and I would gladly have another.

Aroma is dominated by a milk chocolate character. Just some slight roast and dark esters present as well. Very faint alcohol note in the aroma. Esters have a prune and raisin character to them. Pours black with a light mocha head that starts thick but quickly recedes leaving a slight film in the center and more clinging to the edges. Some light lacing and very small legs. Flavor starts out sweet with a definitely milk chocolate flavor. Mid palate the milk chocolate turns to dark chocolate and the esters start to appear, some and prune. the finish has a hint of roast to it. Very low bitterness and a touch of alcohol flavor. Mouthfeel is medium bodies with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. The body starts out silky, but the finish is a bit watery compared to the start. Overall this is one of my favorite milk stouts. I just wish the mouthfeel in the finish was a little thicker and the esters were less prevalent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
