Originally reviewed: 1/6/11. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a deep dark black with just a twinge of ruby on the edges. Little-to-no lace left behind. Nose is full of creamy hot chocolate, vanilla, freshly ground coffee and roasted goodness. Smells like I just walked into a gourmet bakery/coffee-boutique. A full, creamy mouth that coats the palate well. Excellent depth for the style. Mild carbonation. Wonderful balance of sweet chocolate, mild hops, and a dark roasted finish. The vanilla comes through a tad, but this is dark all the way. Outstanding execution. A little on the sweeter side, but this may be my favorite of the style. Loved it.

Bottle from RamyG4. Pours black brown with a tight khaki colored head that leaves a wispy film and collar. Aroma has good chocolate notes like tootsie rolls and faint vanilla with light coffee and roasted malt. Taste is big creamy sweet and slightly bitter chocolate with more roasted malt and vanilla. Palate is slick and chalky with a dry finish. Nice drinking chocolate stout!

Bottle from Toast in Augusta. Pours inky black with a tannish head. Some lacing. Aroma has bakers chocolate, licorice and some roasted malt. Taste brings rum raisin, sweet chocolate nibs, lactose and sour fruit. Quite sweet and smooth, with the flavor being an interesting blend that grew on me. Finishes somewhat short with mainly as bittersweet chocolate. Terrapin keeps making different things, and mostly they don’t get to the top tier.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a medium-sized brown head. Aroma is dark and milk chocolate, some malt. Dark chocolate hits you first on the tongue, then lots of milk chocolate, some fruits (cherry and raisin), and some mild coffee. Fairly sweet but balanced with some bitterness from the malt and chocolate. Medium palate.
