Very flavorful beer. Lots of chocolate, especially in the finish. Nice roast, there’s actually flavor in the middle that reminds me of when I’ve used too many grounds to make my coffee. Very low bitterness for a stout, probably because of the sweetness. Really tasty. The sweetness is pleasant. I’d chugged 3/4s of the glass without realizing it, so it’s not cloying. This is the best of the flood of new beers that Terrapin has been releasing lately.

12 ounce thanks to smith4498. Cocoa. Chocolate milk. Dark body with a big, tan creamy head. Slight tart and chocolate bitterness from the nibs. Very tasty.

Pours a deep dark brown, almost black color that is completely opaque without even the slightest bit of lighter color when held to a light source. One finger fizzy mocha colored head that very quickly fades into a thin ring. Nothing in the way of lacing. Slightly roasted malt aroma with lots of silky milk and dark chocolate notes as well as hints of lactic cream, burnt toast, oatmeal, coffee bean and oatmeal. Medium bodied and very roasty with a bit of overly acrid bitterness up front that lingers throughout into a long, dry finish. Although this is very bitter and roasty with severe notes of burnt toast/malt, overly roasted coffee/espresso bean, toffee and oatmeal and ash, there is some slightly silky chocolate flavor along with hints of lactic cream. A bit one dimensional for my taste with nowhere near the chocolate milk presence described on the label. A bit disappointing.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark black pour with a thin tan head. Big chocolate and cream aroma with a lot of great roast. Flavor is a nice blend of chocolate and roasted malts with a nice and thick creamy flavor in the middle. Mildly roasty finish with a nice cocoa aftertaste.

12oz bottle. Black pour, dark brown foamy head. Sticky lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa nibs, cooked barley, and wooded hops. Tastes of creamy chocolate, burnt grains, coffee and milk, a touch of lacto in the finish. Very rich and full flavored. The finish is all cocoa nibs in fizz. Wow.

12oz bottle from TJ’s, Carrboro. Sure enough, the pour actually resembles Yoo Hoo, favorite beverage of Myron Bolitar. Slightly dingy dark brown pour, like rusty runoff more than a stout. Nose is synthetic somehow, with its milk chocolate quality giving way quickly to generic syrup. Mild nuttiness and milkshake in the flavor, and lactic qualities to the mouthfeel do enhance the experience. But the body wasn’t quite thick enough, and I just wasn’t feeling the stoutage here.

The beer pours very dark brown and clear with ruby highlights. There is virtually no head. Minimum lacing. Aroma is mild until the beer warms quite a bit. Then it is mostly alcohol with heavy cream at the forefront. Mild milk chocolate smell is also there. Tastes is pleasant without the alcohol burn that one would expect from the aroma. The alcohol flavor is present with some milk chocolate flavor as well. Sour cream and some hazelnut notes are there as well. Hops are muted and of the earthy variety. Low to medium carbonation. Texture is light and mildly creamy. A very accessible Milk Stout that is mild in most respects. Extremely drinkable.

(12oz bottle courtesy of drowland!). Pours black with tan head. Aroma of chocolate, licorice, and coffee. Taste is initally sourish with the sweetness following up and finishing with a little roastiness. A decent beer-thought it would be sweeter and have more chocolate though.

Black pour with nice tan head. Super smooth, not at all dry. Also not overly sweet. Perfectly balanced, you get chocolate notes, a bit of malt and a great full body beer. Really enjoyable, worth picking up a whole six pack of this! Really a great chocolate milk stout for someone who doesn’t like it too dry or too sweet! Yum

Oh wow, what a nice offering here! Pours the deepest mahogany, almost black, into the glass with a deep brown head that diminishes quickly, leaving trace lace. The nose is of milk chocolate and roasts. Flavors have a lot of dark chocolate, bittersweet and unsweetened chocolate bark, roasted coffee beans and finishes with a lightly smoked milk chocolate. The mouthfeel is very smooth with ever-so-slightly elevated carbonation levels for activity. This feels like a chocolate covered coffee bean in a glass! It really hit the spot and would have again graciously anytime!
