Pumpkin beers have been an American tradition since the pilgrims hit Plymouth Rock while Oktoberfest beers have been brewed in Germany since not long after Prince Ludwig got hitched in 1810. Now Terrapin is “carving” out our own special brew by combining these two great styles into a unique PUMPKINFEST beer...This Side Project has all the complex maltiness of a great Oktoberfest lager with the delicate spiciness of grandma’s fresh baked pumpkin pie.

Formerly Terrapin Side Project Pumpkinfest.

Poured a pleasant amber colour with minimal head. Nice nose of the requisite spices but way too perfumery in the mouth, very odd.

Draft. Dark copper, ruby red highlight. Red apple cider, yummy baked bread, real pumpkin rather then spice. Toasty. Acetaldehyde. Spice tinge on back end. Washed out flavors, a bit too much CO2 burn

Poured from bottle. Orange/copper in color with thin head. Lots of pumpkin pie spice in the aroma. The nutmeg and cinnamon dominate the flavors with some malty sweetness.

12 oz bottle. (Beverage World) Fort Oglethorpe, GA.
Clear deep golden colour with a small white head. Cardamom, spices, banana, pumpkin pie and sweetness in the aroma. Malt, caramel, spices, banana and pumpkin pie in the flavour. Too sweet!

Thin head which dissipates quickly. Spicy aroma with lots of nutmeg and cinnamon. Some vegetal pumpkin also but mostly the spices. Color is a dark orangish brown. Spices not as prominent in the flavor. Mild roasted pumpkin with a bit of chocolate malt. Light bitterness and a bot of grainy mouthfeel. Finishes slightly dry and pastly with more lingering spices. A decent pumpkin brew.

Bottles and bottles over the past two weeks. Pours clearish hazy orange amber with a thick, soft tan head. Aroma of pumpkin pulp, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Taste is heavily influenced by the nutmeg, with some pumpkin flesh and clove in the middle, carrying through to an almost tart, savory finish. Tart hint is probably due to the German malts. This is very good.

Bottle. Great light tan head. Golden orange color. Mild but not overpowering pumpkin spices up front. With a smooth and enjoyable aftertaste and lingering notes of spices. Good carbonation. Very satisfying beer for the fall season.
