Pumpkin beers have been an American tradition since the pilgrims hit Plymouth Rock while Oktoberfest beers have been brewed in Germany since not long after Prince Ludwig got hitched in 1810. Now Terrapin is “carving” out our own special brew by combining these two great styles into a unique PUMPKINFEST beer...This Side Project has all the complex maltiness of a great Oktoberfest lager with the delicate spiciness of grandma’s fresh baked pumpkin pie.

Formerly Terrapin Side Project Pumpkinfest.

Poured from a bottle. Hazy brownish orange with fizzy offwhite head. Aroma is malt and pumpkin pie; you can smell the sweetness and the spice. The taste is also sweet and follows the nose. Pumpkin pie spice lingers on the palate for a while. The body is fairly light and the carbonation is soft. Overall, a good pumpkin beer.

12 oz can served in tulip glass. Large frothy head slowly thins down to a film and heavy lacing. Aroma is alot of herbal spice. Taste is some pumpkin but mainly gourd and some spice such as clove. Lightly sweet and lightly bitter. More herbal and gourd like than most pumpkin beers. Medium carbonation and medium bodied beer. Overall good pumkin type beer. Good combonation of squash like flavor and modest spicing. Very enjoyable for the. Season.

12oz can pours a clear amber with some frothy, white head. Nose is what you want, what you expect, spice, brown sugar, clove, cinnamon, some definite root vegetable, maybe more sweet potato than pumpkin. Flavor is a bit weaker, but still nice, floral, some root veg, some brown sugar, then spice, pepper, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg. Dry finish. Well done.

Where and how: tasting can 355 ml
Aroma mild yet not plain aroma. Nice, organic feel of peppery spice of pumpkin, not too sweet. Touch of clove at end. 7+
Appearance :
Top: medium foamy white cap with sparse lace.
Base: fine haze on amber.
Palate : medium fuller bodied with milder carbonation. Average plus finish.
Taste: reflecting aroma, mild mellow pumpkin spice feel. Peppery clove with soft brown caramel sugars. Not too sweet. Mild side bitterness.
Other notes pleasant to see that was not overdone.

Pumpkin beers are make or break for me. I guess this is closer to make. Aroma is mostly pumpkin with a hint of cinnamon. Pours hazy Amber with thin beige head. Flavor is cinnamon, pumpkin, and spice. Decent, but eh.

(Thanks, James "jbruner") Can. A- Pumpkin, pie spice, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon. A- Amber color, cloudy liquid, off white head. T- Pumpkin, spices. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, spiced finish. O- By all means this is pumpkin pie in a glass. One of the better pumpkin beers I’ve had. Gives me hope for this niche style.

A simple marriage of two fall styles Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beer work well together. Light bodied pumpkin spiced Marzen with malt backbone. Terrapin delivers as promised with Pumpkinfest.

Aroma of pumpkin spice. Light amber color. Taste is weak with only the spice notes coming through beer is budwiser quality.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2015 Pours beautiful auburn amber with large tan head that leaves some attractive skim. Clouded from carbonation but soon clears. Mild pie spice aroma strengthens slightly when warmer. Taste is light gourd, light spice, light sweetness. Slightly prickly carbonation enlivens smooth mouthfeel, but the overall effect is mild. Merciful 4.5 percent ABV adds to the appeal for a session, but the overall effect is mild lager with some pumpkin spices thrown in, not the best of either genre.
