COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pumpkin beers have been an American tradition since the pilgrims hit Plymouth Rock while Oktoberfest beers have been brewed in Germany since not long after Prince Ludwig got hitched in 1810. Now Terrapin is ďcarvingĒ out our own special brew by combining these two great styles into a unique PUMPKINFEST beer...This Side Project has all the complex maltiness of a great Oktoberfest lager with the delicate spiciness of grandmaís fresh baked pumpkin pie.

Formerly Terrapin Side Project Pumpkinfest.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2013 Amber pour with good head and lacing. Aroma is primarily spice with little pumpkin. On tasting, it is apparent that Terrapin has chosen to go heavier on the spice. While not bad, I think more pumpkin is needed to balance the flavor. Light to medium bodied with a slight lingering (and distracting) nutmeg (?) on the back of the mouth. Still, one of the better pumpkin beers Iíve tried. Update 9/26/2013: I said before that it was one of the better pumpkin ales but found it a little unbalanced. Well, this time it was well balanced. Very good. (original score unchanged)

Bottle from Total Wine in Orlando, FL. Pours rather orange with a slight white head. Light pie spice aroma. Itís fairly strong spice. Perhaps heavy on clove. like it for strong flavor with a firm malt backbone to carry it. Very tasty for such a low ABV.

The beer is bright orange with just a mild haze. Beige head that settles as a thin ring on top. Aromas of lager, fall spice. Cinnamon and nutmeg with some squash character. A bit sweet, but not too. An interesting take on a fall seasonal, going the lager route as opposed to the typical ale choice. Crisp finish with a subtle hop bitterness. A solid beer, especially if youíre a fan of Oktoberfest and/or pumpkin brews.

A fairly bland offering as far as a pumpkin goes. As a matter of fact, I was handed this and tried it blind, and I didnít know it was a pumpkin ale.

Bottle. Solid initial pumpkin aroma. Medium amber clear color. Pure malt flavor profile (no noticeable hop prescence). Smooth on palate but no hop flavor like i prefer. Good pumpkin beer.
