Bottle. Aroma of caramel, butterscotch, and marshmallows. Caramalt flavors with some spice and fruity hops. On the sweet side; more ibus would help. Still good.

Deep hazy copper and bronzed coloured body, all with a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pungent rye grain with a very resinous and piney hop bite, some caramel and apricot sweetness and a lot of deep malt scent as well - very pungent. Full-bodied; Very dense flavour of rye, pine, grain, honey, figs, alcohol and pears - strong and pungent throughout. Aftertaste shows a good rich flavourful beer with a lot of rye noticeable, some light oak and dry herbal notes and a pungent hop bite showing mostly resin and pine. Overall, a well-balanced beer showing a ton of rye characteristics and perhaps even more sweet notes from honey and fruits, but the hop bite is still present and pungent - nicely layered throughout and not missing a beat. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom, Eye Street NW), D.C. on 27-August-2014 for US$3,49 sampled at home in Washington on 20-February-2015 just before leaving for the south for a weekend.

Poured from a bottle into a brandy snifter. Great copper color and a nice forming head. Great lacing in the mug as you drink it down. Taste the hop/rye malt combo. Very tasty and enjoyable at 10.7%.

Bottle from Total Wine in Jensen Beach. Pours orangey copper with an off-white head leaving a lot of wrap-around lace. Aroma has sweet malts blended with orange juice, pineapple, and spices. Strong and layered nose. Taste is of sweet malts, caramel, grainy rye, oranges and some spices. Heavily resinous with almost a chocolate component. Medium to full bodied, and thick and chewy. Hard to be dry from the rye and yet chewy, but this is so overlayered and strong that it pulls it off. Almost barleywine-ish in the layering. Finishes sweet with a dry grainy length. Enjoyed the rye squared; despite the layering, there was hop presence with the rye. This was over the top. 13.9

Pours a murky copper with a small head that doesn’t last. Aromas of strong citrus and rye bread. Extremely sweet on the tongue and a bit boozy. Mostly the rye spice is coming through with a bit of caramel malts floating around, but it’s so sweet it’s almost overkill. Decent, but my least favorite of the three.

Pours a murky hazy amber with a creamy off white head. Nose is faint fruit hops and spice. Taste is sweet caramel hops, nice hint of bitterness and resin hops

Bottle from Lazy Dog in Warner Robins. Pours murky orange with a creamy two finger off white head that stick around a good while. Aroma of orange peels, stale hops, big toffee malts, light rye maltiness. Flavor is intensely sweet with stale hops, no real rye presence, toffee, cloying level, bit of citrus peel. Syrupy, medium carbonation. Really just a barleywine, and a mediocre one at that.

Terrapin make excellent beers for sure. This one is not that bad but doesn't live to expectations. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle of unknown origin but still fresh. Awesome caramel color pour with a big, foamy tan head. Big aroma of hops, honey and sweet malt. Flavor reminds me of an American styled barley wine. Fine.
