Where and how: 355ml , 2014 edition
Aroma big, bold, spicy rye feel with hops and alcohol. Finish noted with toasted cookie dough. Vanilla. Aroma heavy on rye.
Appearance :
Top: lasting, pillow like white top. Handsome look.
Base: clear red.
Palate : oily, milder carbonation, soft.
Taste: frontal rye notes, dangerously hidden alcohol potency. More rye. All about rye in here.
Other notes I wish if there was some hop roughness to rough up all that smooth heavy rye feel.

Pours honey amber in color with a medium off white head. Aroma is sweet with the rye taking precedence. Taste is sweet caramel and rye grains up front and throughout the finish. One dimensional, but really good. The 10.7% ABV is nonexistent - CAREFUL...

Bottle. Nice visual appeal, deep amber with a rich topping. The aroma is a hint at the furniture polish underneath ... and that’s what’s delivered. Overly rich with a varnish alcohol burn, this can scare a drinker away. It’s well made, but a bit obtuse. (#5735, 9/13/2014)

Bottle. Dark clear mahogany with an off white head. Aroma is caramel, toast and some earthy notes. Taste follows but adds a heavy pineapple note. Rich mouthfeel and long finish. Ok.

maekchu (2134) - Hirakata, JAPAN - SEP 6, 2014
Bottle from Village Wine and Spirits. Thick caramels, alc. fumes, spicy hopping. Deep amber/copper color, 1cm off-white head. Caramel, earthy hops, some pepper, and alc is intrusive. Medium-heavy body. Hot and thick. On the edge of cloying.

Pours dark orange with a syrupy caramel smell. Little to no head retention and it sticks to the glass. After the first sip it reminds me more of a barley wine than an ipa. If this beer was really fresh I bet I would pick up on the hops more. The alcohol covers most of the flavors besides caramel and citrus at the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle. Pours a bright copper color with a thick medium sized rocky beige head. Aroma is rich and sweet with notes of caramel and nutty grain. Lot’s of resiny hops as well. Sweet malt flavor is complex and chewy. Lot’s going on here. Thick and chewy sweet grainy malt. Notes of rye and agave syrup. Resiny hops with hints of pine and grapefruit. Earthy yeast undertones and warming alcohol come forward in the mid taste. This could pass for a hoppy barley wine. Best served warm and sipped slowly. Delicious.

From a 12 oz bottle shared in Avon, NC. Pours a clear dark copper with an off white head. Grassy aroma. Flavors of caramel and pine. Almost viscous mouthfeel. Big beer finish.

Emeister84 (985) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - AUG 31, 2014
Fruity aromas, citrusy, berry-like, melon, caramelly. Reddish orange, quickly fading white head. Somewhat sweet, flavors reflecting aromas. Medium bodied.

Bottle pour of a clean bright amber with a fluffy light brown head. Aroma of big sweet caramel malt with some spices. Taste of same big sweet rye but with more spice and a larger grassy bitter. Med body that has just the right amount of carbonation to highlight the spices while still being smooth enough to work with the sweet malt flavors. Over all a complex beer that has flavors stacked on flavors that are at first competing but the mellow and work together. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
