Commercial Description:
We Consider this an extreme version of an American Pale Ale. It has a very up front floral and citrus aroma from a late cascade addition and dry hopping with Amarillo. This beer also has a big malt background to balance the bitterness of the hops. The rye malt cleans up your palette after you swallow so the hop flavor does not stick in your mouth too long.
Now available in bottles.

On tap 01.28.09 at the Sharp Edge. Orange gold, off white head. Aroma is floral hops, malt rye (?). Flavor is hoppy, herbal and moldy (I assume this is supposed to be the rye) malt, wheat finish.

On tap in Athens. What a good beer. Went great with the wings. Pretty good hops backbone with a general rye profile. Nice and dry. Would definitely enjoy in Panama.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of floral hops, apricot, grapefruit, light rye, light caramel, and slight pine. Poured amber/deep gold in color with a small, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of hops, grapefruit, apricot, light caramel, rye, crystal malts, slight pine. Medium body. Lightly sticky texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, hoppy finish is a bit cloying.

Off-whiteish head that starts fading quickly but lingers longer than expected. Orange-goldish color, attractive looking for a pale ale. Aroma of floral, citrusy hops. Hoppy and Slightly bitter, sour / lemony taste with little to no aftertaste. Slightly watery (not syrupy). You can taste the rye. Not bad but I like the india brown better.

On draft only. I stopped buying the bottled version when they moved the bottling to their new brewery, they are doing something terribly wrong. Hope they fix(ed) it! Meanwhile the draft is just as good as ever, delicious and hoppy, everything you could ask for in a pale ale, and I guess that rye must help out with the dryness, or something. I doubt you can actually taste it. Its the Amarillo that does it for me!

12oz bottle. Pours an off-white head with a clover honey color body. Smells like pineapple, apricots, and honey. There is rye in the nose, flavor, and finish, but I find them very weak.

12 oz. bottle. Poured clear, dark golden color. Moderate lacing. Some mild notes of rye in the nose. Flavor is flowery and lightly citrusy. Crisp and hoppy. Watery and lacking malt balance. Easy drinking, sessionable as fuck.

I’ve enjoyed several of these over the years. This is my first bottle since 2005. Crystal clear amber body is topped by an average sized eggshell head. Lots of sticky lace. Aroma of pink grapefruit, faint caramel, and spicy rye. Sticky mouthfeel with a spicy rye bite. Evenly balanced caramel malt and citrusy hop bitterness, edged with a rye twang. This is still one of my alltime favorites. Lovely American pale ale!
