Commercial Description:
We Consider this an extreme version of an American Pale Ale. It has a very up front floral and citrus aroma from a late cascade addition and dry hopping with Amarillo. This beer also has a big malt background to balance the bitterness of the hops. The rye malt cleans up your palette after you swallow so the hop flavor does not stick in your mouth too long.
Now available in bottles.

12 oz bottle 6/29/07: Light amber w/ a short lived off white head. Spicy hops and rye malt combo make this beer very appealing right off the bat! Toasty malt, but a lightly soapy & resiny hop presence once it warms just a touch. Actual esters are light, bu the hops add a citrusy fruitiness. Rye malt also strengthens as it warms. Well balanced flavor, but they all seem a bit on the light side. Rye seems light, but it helps to dry out the palate... herbal & citrusy hops mid palate, and a dry, herbal hop and rye malt spicy flavored finish. Aftertaste is herbal hops and toasty malt. Smooth m/f, light medium body, and medium CO2. As pale ales go, this is a pretty good one. Without the rye, it might be just a bit boring, but the rye gives it a nice little snap on the palate to make it exciting.

Light golden/reddish with a thin fading head. Caramel malty and floral hop aromas are there as well as a quiet toasted toffee quality. The beer is malty with particular oat and grain qualities, with subtle hops and a slight watery touch. The body proves to be quenching and would be good with barbecue or spicy foods. Not super complex, but solid and drinkable.

(Bottle) Trade with shp555, Pours a large, lasting yellowish head atop a deep orange body. Nose of strong hops and spice. Powerful hop and rye tongue. Very sweet. I really like this stuff but would give the hand up to Hop Rod if head to head.

12 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden color. Sweet citrusy hop aroma... I can’t detect the rye, but it’s probably just me. Reminds me a little of Dale’s in that it’s so nicely balanced and drinkable. This is a great everday beer.

Slightly hazy amber color with bits of thin white head. Sweet rye and malt aromas along with some light (non-hop) floral hints. Nice palate with some body from the rye. Crisp tasting with a mild hop finish and a general overall sweetness. The rye adds a nice quality but it could use some more hop character to liven it up a bit.

Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of rye and a rich sweetness. Flavor begins subtle but opens up to a moderately sweet rye character offset by some piney hops. Palate is smooth; finish is tangy and sweet. Nice summer quaffer.

Bottle pour: Pours a golden-orange color with a nice white head. Could be described as it has by some as having a subtle IPA feel though I think it is more of a heavily hopped American style craft ale with rye. Very very subtle citrus flavoring but not to the extent you would find in a wit beer.

On tap at Mellow Mushroom. Rich, dark red pour, with little head and not much in the way of lacing. Aroma is full of hops and citrus notes. Taste feels bolder and stronger than the 5.3% indiciates; citrus, hops, grapefruit. Overall, a good beer. Could be described as an IPA by some.
