White to light grey head that leaves behind a nice, stratified lacing. The aroma is quite tame and well balanced. When cold, it shows smells of lightly caramelized pale malts, subdued grassy hops, and subtle grains. As the beer warms, more and more of the rye emerges, adding a unique grainy element to the aroma. The flavor evolves in a similar fashion. Light, toasty, caramel malts get things started, and the herbal hops and rye gradually reveal themselves. Mild but well crafted beer that must sit in the glass for a while before it reaches its full potential. Medium body and decent mouthfeel. Nice, unique session beer. Pours a yellowy golden color with a small white head that doesn’t last very long. Aroma is a nice balance between sweet, honey-esque malts and rye spiciness, or at least I think that is rye, some breadiness and subtle but noticeable hops. Taste is light, crisp, refreshing and well-balanced. Grainy malts are present with a very mild bitterness and a quick finish. Thirst quenching, a bit watery, medium to thin bodied. This is a nice, balanced, easy drinking beer that would be nice to drink a lot of. Not one of the better pale ales I’ve had but a nice beer nonetheless and unique enough to stand out from the crowd. goozen (1061), Leiden, Netherlands

Light aroma, goes down smooth, easy to drink, hoppy after taste. Better in a glass than in a bottle, no complaints. A solid American ale. WankerWeasel (18), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 8, 2007 Pours up a clear deep golden color with a nice thick couple fingers of off-white foam sitting on top. The foam slowly settles and leaves lots of wispy lacing stuck to the side of the glass. A nice layer of lace settles to cover the top of the brew. Wonderful sweet rye malt up front is soon followed by a great floral hoppy aroma. Little touch of pine and a hint of grapefruit. Wonderful aroma. Great smooth malt body with a delicious sweetness and rye flavor. Fruity floral hops come through next with a touch of apple, berry, and grapefruit. Little hop bitterness comes through at the end. This brew is smooth and very easy to drink. Big in flavor but it sits fairly light in the stomach. A great brew for a hot summer day or at the end of a long day. tytoanderso (1385), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA

Very fresh smelling. Pours golden caramel. Excellent lacing. Flavor is lots of creamy malt but fairly dry. Grassy and farm-like hops. Unique earthy dryness. Medium bodied. Fairly creamy. Good carbonation. Nicely balanced pale. Unique malt-hop profile. Must be the rye.
