Ridedom33 (37), Valdosta, Georgia, USA Feb 8, 2007 Bottle. golden color with white head. Loads of carbonation. Very strong bread taste with hint of lemon. crispness to it in the mouth. No real lingering after taste. TheEpeeist (1430), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 5, 2007 12 oz bottle. Clear rusty orange with a nice white cap. Rye dough and light lemon zest. Crisp, hop-rye bite hits the spot. Tingle hangs on. Tang gets peppery-orange leaving lemon sugar cookies; returning to rye bread. Maybe a bit cold but body and taste still shine. brewblackhole (1367), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Feb 3, 2007 Citrus hop in a bed of juicey grain malt, a really huge aroma for a pale ale, orange amber color, small head, initial taste is orange citrus hop ,malt backing is thinner then aroma would lead you to believe, finished with a rye tang and citrus bitterness. Pleasantly drinkable, would need fuller body to be rated close to Alpha King Thanks emacgee detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Feb 3, 2007 Clear copper color with about an inch of nearly white foam. Good head retention, okay lacing. Hops - grapefruit and chlorophyll in the nose.
Nice tart and tangy rye, a bit of caramel, and citrus hop combination. I get lemon and grapefruit flavors. Medium body, very smooth, nice carbonation. Scubatrip (388), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Feb 1, 2007 From the bottle, pours a hazy reddish orange with very little and quickly dissipating head. Strong deep floral hoppy aroma, some caramel too. Taste is smooth and malty, with a little grassy hop notes, and the caramel flavor comes through more as it warms. Not nearly as hoppy as I would have expected from the aroma. This is a pretty good beer, unless you’re expecting a lot of hops in the taste. ghawener (953), San Salvador, El Salvador Feb 1, 2007 Bottle: Citrus and hoppy, well balance though single minded. Tasteful, crisp and enjoyable. Another great Terrapin. TheKegergator (241), California, USA Jan 31, 2007
My first try of the Rye Ale’s. So far so good. Poured a slightly dark amber color and had a little foam that went away quick. Smell was good but a little light on the loafers. The taste and drinkability were really good. A very smooth beer to drink.
SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Jan 23, 2007 Pours a yeasty yellow with a nice foam cap. The rye leaves lots of lacing in its wake. Nicely balanced nose pits rye against the juiciness of flowery/citrusy hops. Chewy mouthfeel is unexpected. The hops go straight citrus in the body, with notes of lemon zest and oranges with a great caramel malt backing. This is solid from start to finish.
