Commercial Description:
We Consider this an extreme version of an American Pale Ale. It has a very up front floral and citrus aroma from a late cascade addition and dry hopping with Amarillo. This beer also has a big malt background to balance the bitterness of the hops. The rye malt cleans up your palette after you swallow so the hop flavor does not stick in your mouth too long.
Now available in bottles.

Botterd. Copper-amber color. Sweetish and flowery aroma with cascade hops, toffee and some rye. Sweetish flavor with citrusy cascade hops, pineapple, solid bitterness, toffee and rye. A bit too sweet.

i would put this beer in a short list of light, enjoyable, american craft beers that can be enjoyed with great regularity. not that i struggle kicking back bells or highland beers at high frequency given the opportunity, but terrapin rye pale has a great balance of fruit and hop which gos down with ease. if anything, too easy. the finish is too clean and you are left wanting more. either that or i have a drinking problem.

Had on draft at Manuel’s, a 50 year old bar in the Virginia Highland district of Atlanta. Very solid. Rye is becoming the grain du jour of the brewing world. The hip grain to use and for good reason. Terrapin Rye PA is very fresh and vibrant with a floral nose and citrus flavors. Very refreshing with a nice hop finish. Easy to drink.

Bottle. Thanks to unclemattie! Pours a copper color with a white head on top. Aroma is mix between hops and malts coming in. Flavor is hops, pine, and caramel notes hitting at the end. Starts off with a nice bitterness and smooths out at the end. A pretty decent APA, up there with SNPA.

A slightly hazed amber pour with a light head and thick lacing. A nice aroma of hops and light malt. A hops flavor with a slight malt as well. A PA that pushes the envelope on an IPA. I really like this beer. My favorite PA is SNPA but this pushes it hard.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 8 Oct) Amber colour with firm, frothy, off-white head. Fruity nose with intense aromas of grapefruit and blood oranges. Fruity taste with notes of grapefruit, orange and some harsh rye notes. Fairly dry and hoppy finish, a bit too short though. A bit one-dimensional, but nice hop character.

[Bottled. Stockholm Beer Festival] Hazy orange colour. Bright head. Flowery hoparoma. Very smooth mouthfeel with loads of hops. The flavour profile is low and undecisive, low on the hops, low on the caramel, low on almost everything. So much aroma and so little flavour. Standard APA.
