jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 10, 2006 on tap-pours a white head with orange-gold color. Aroma is citrus. Taste is citrus with a good biting medium hops. antzman (313), Clarksville, Indiana, USA Jun 3, 2006 Updated: Jun 11, 2006Bottle. Pours a dark gold with a thin white head. The aroma is full of citrus, with a nice hop finish. The taste is very well balanced. There is a decent amount of hops in here, but enough malt to even things out. Very drinkable. WarFockewulf (21), Douglasville, Georgia, USA Jun 3, 2006 Great version of american Pale Ale. A smoothness and dryness they say comes from the rye. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA May 29, 2006 Lightly hazy, efferfescent orangey gold. Dusty citrus aroma, touch of exotic fruits. Medium bodied, with a spicy rye dryness. Good malt character for a pale ale. I’m just not crazy about the hop combination. Rather than bright and clean, it comes across as woody, and a bit muddy. But the malt character is quite nice. Thanks Eric! heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 26, 2006 Bottled. Slightly hazy orange body with a very creamy slightly yellowish head. It leaves a thick lacing on the glass. The oranges with the rye creeping in behind it. There is also some fresh floral character. The taste is definitely rye with a little grapefruit behind it. There is some toast and a little more rye in the finish. Interesting and well made. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA May 25, 2006 Pours amber/orange with a small off-white head. Fading, some lace. The aroma is rye, apple cider, faint tobacco, some grapefruit. The flavor is very grainy, rye bread, spicey, some caramel with plenty of light citrus. Medium body, becoming bitter at the end. Nice. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA May 22, 2006 On tap at Flying Saucer, Nashville. Poured an orange gold color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is floral and grapefruity. A medium bodied Pale Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and floral. There is also that rye spiciness/sharpness here as well. A touch sweet, but balance well by the hops and the rye. Smooth taste. Nice beer. It would make a great session ale. I could drink a lot of this one. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Silphium (2114), Haslett, Michigan, USA May 16, 2006 Fresh out of the box from a trade with jimbowood. Hazy orange body, medium off-white head. Strong, grassy aroma with wet hay and fruits (peaches and apricot, especially the latter). Spicy, bitter hops. Tangy, grassy body, bready, with some of the same apricot notes noticed in the aroma. Bitter, citric hops play nicely off the fruity, spicy rye. There is a somewhat cloying fruity, syrupy aftertaste that I could do without.
