Nose is slight hop with a floral and citrusy making the biggest splash. Flavor wise its like a mild IPA, hops and very slight hint of the namesake rye. Enjoyable, but not as good as their Big Hoppy monster! Hank1980 (778), Athens, Georgia, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 4, 2004 Updated: Jul 24, 2004RE-RATE (7/24)---- They are bottling this now and it's been months since I've tried it. WOW... I rated this one too low. Wonderful clear golden color with a thin, yet lasting off-white head. Very clean aroma with mostly citrus hops. Beautiful taste with just the right amount of lip-smacking hops. Nice malt backbone. Very drinkable and extremely quaffable. Being a local brew, there will always be a sixer of this in my fridge. One of the few beers I consider better bottled than draught. Better than the pale ales that sweetwater or dogwood are putting out in atlanta. My rating may seem high but this is EXACTLY what I like. Good job Terrapin!

Taste is slightly bitter with good caramel balance. Medium lived bitter finish. Medium body and smooth carbonation. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Aroma is strongly of hops... some pine, resin, and grapefruit for sure. the hops really dominate the aroma. poured an almost golden color with ample carbonatoin and two inches of head that were there to stay. flavor was also dominated by hops, resin pine and grapfruit again, slight rustic earthy flavor. palate was light. Good beer for a hot day... too bad I had it in the middle of winter. RollinHard (764), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Thanks to shp555 for this nice pale ale. Pours burnt orange with a generous fluffy white head. Nice aroma of bread and toast, citrus leaning towards lemon, with a spicy rye and "plant store" sort of kick. Taste follows with a pretty tangy bread malt taste and a wonderfully pungent, planty hop flavor. Great back and forth mingling of the flavors between hops and malt. Finishes with grapefruit and toast. Full of flavor, drinkable body, light without weakness. Mouthfeel is kinda unremarkable, but alas. Good stuff!
