Appearance: crystal bright darker toned amber with large presentable neatly matching crown. Fragmental lace shown. Almost perfect show. 4+ Nose: brilliant hop freshness, garden feel after rain, citrusy green feel. Hoppy but fairly mild and friendly with balanced caramel malt sweets. 8- Flavor/Palate : full bodied. Smooth soft texture , full out well rounded malt , very soft with gentle leafy lip smacking hop feel. One of smoothers pale ale there is on market. I wish that top end hop character was noted bit more as malt here is very established. Solid brew.f-7+

Light but nice hoppy aroma, fruity (Cascade). Quite thin mouthfeel, with some dry toffee flavor, but a very good hopping, resiny, dry. Slight hop aroma. Good hop bitterness carries throughout. Finishes to the dry side. Rye gives it a good bite in the finish. Not quite as good as I was expecting, but still a decent APA. CaptainCougar (5549), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Subtle malty and fruity aroma with nice hop presence. Body is semi-sweet, with good rye character and plenty of hops. Good crisp clean finish. One of the better APAs I’ve had.
Bottle sampled on 7/18/2005 (7,3,7,4,14): Pours a clear golden bronze with a thin white head. Aroma is slightly less hoppy than the tap version with a touch more grainy malt. Body is pretty similar with good citrus hoppy balance and a touch of dry, earthy rye. Very smooth and drinkable, and quite good in its squared form. alebrewer (122), Mentor, Ohio, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2004 Sliightly hazy amber body, white head. Primarily hoppy aroma, not much sweetness. I get orange/lemon citrus and rubarb leaves out of it. I’m still looking for the "big malt background" the commercial description talks about. There’s a basic pale malt backbone but any of its sweetness is overshadowed by the rye malt dryness. Layered on top of that are bitter grassy then citrus hops. Dry, hoppy finish. This beer is about what I expected, noticable rye malt with American hops. Nice! Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
